On the line you add to the HOSTS file, make sure there are two spaces between the numeric address part and the text address part, and that there are no spaces within the text part. You may get different if you just cut & paste. The HOSTS file is a text database and the layout is important.
And be sure to set the HOSTS file back to Read Only as that helps protect the HOSTS file from malware meddling (but only a little bit).

1. Click Start->All Programs->Accessories->Command Prompt
2. Click Command Prompt This will open a DOS command window.
3. Type: notepad C:/Windows/System32/drivers/etc/hosts
4. Locate the line 127.0.0.1 localhost
5. Add this text under 127.0.0.1 localhost:
127.0.0.1 dynamic2.anandtech. com
