Forums are extremely slow

Yep, just forums. To be fair, I had a little bit of a speed issue on other web sites, but they were taking like 3-4 seconds instead of 20+ like anandtech forums. (Normal is 1-2) Nomal speed now.
 
Something has definitely been wrong this week, and got worse yesterday it seems. It's so slow I may actually have to work all day today :awe:

I was blaming it on tapatalk before but something is definitely wrong with the forums in general
 
Previously the forum front page would pop right up, but the individual forums were slow to open. Now even the forums front page is really slow to open.

Front page of Anandtech seems slightly sluggish, but still completely useable, the forums are horrible.
 
Normal for me is a 2 second delay, but back to normal. excellent avatar bubbleawesome.

Yeah, it's not instant, but it is loading fine. Nothing crazy.

Something I've noticed is that at forums loves upload speed, even when I'm not commenting. Just loading the page goes faster when my internet is 20/20 vs 45/4.

Wow guess my post never went through last night...

Was saying it was brutally slow for me too. I also got the "database error" pages that look like "this page cannot be displayed" error from IE. I did a ping test and it was only 60ms and very stable, so this tells me it's probably not a network issue but a DB issue.

My guess is they probably need to run an optimize on the tables or something to clean up any junk, there is definitely something really weird going on. Perhaps they need to relook at what should be indexed too.
 
I think someone hacked atforums' server, but they didn't want anyone to know, so they tried to copy the servers over to an old phenom server that had lying around, but the FSB was overclocked and caused sata corruption and they can't fix it. :sneaky:
 
So far, things seem to be MUCH better for me today. Quick page loads again.

(and my beloved Seahawks won the SuperBowl on Sunday!) 😀


Edit: Looks like I spoke too soon. OT threads are dragging again. Taking 15 seconds or more to open sometimes. A couple have even gone longer than that...

Did someone flush something they weren't supposed to flush in the lifer's bathroom again?

:thumbsup: This is my guess as well. The pages are rendered quickly once the reply comes in (excepting any ajax requests that need separate requests of course), which meakes me thing its not a bandwidth issue, but a DB/processing issue.
 
The forum has been completely unusable for the past 3-4 days or so. It wouldn't even load for me. Main page loaded fine. Using one of the "down for everybody or is it just me?" sites showed forums.anandtech.com to be down as well.

This isn't the typical stuff at all. Tapatalk is completely unusable for me due what's happening (never logs in) and while I can use a browser, it still highlights a problem.

It's been the same for me until today. Ironically if I logged out it would work better.

Not a ISP issue, Reply from 199.19.80.12: bytes=32 time=39ms

This is a anandtech server issue.
