I wonder if it's an overall problem with the dynamic1 redirect? that seems to be where page loading is freezing up all the time.

For me, anyway.

I've been emailing Anand ahead of every planned trip to the forums. That way, he can let me know if they are up before I attempt to log in. This saves me the frustration of trying to access the forums only to learn that they are down again.

I must say, Anand is a stand up guy. He's quite punctual in keeping me abreast of the situation on an hourly basis.

That sounds like way too much work. Can you send up a smoke signal to alert me when they are up. I have pretty good vision with my glasses on and should easily see the signal from down south.

it would be nice to get an update from the admins on what is going on with the site. (and no, I'm not talking about one of perk's silly sticky posts that tell us nothing)

A little hosts file modification can fix that. ;)

I had that issue pretty bad awhile ago - pages would time out because the dynamic-something server wasn't responding. Hosts file redirect to 127.0.0.1 = fewer timeouts.
Then we got vB, where the nightly timeouts can last for hours. ;)

This place reminds me of that documentary about the Making of Jaws. The shark is working, the shark is not working, the shark is working.

btw-search is not working

There's forum maintenance every Saturday night from around 10-11PM PST to the small hours which is kinda irritating. Surprised it's scheduled at at a time when people are most likely to be up late. As someone else mentioned, I can't think of any other forum I visit that goes down for 'scheduled maintenance' like that.

OK ... recommend that you start a new thread taking bets as to how long they stay up until the next outage ...

Not only that, but why Saturday? It seems as though Tuesday or Thursday would make more sense.

I dunno, I just post here.

jeepers creepers...wtf is the deal lately...I think I am a semi-regular lurker...and it seems like the database error page is becoming for frequent each passing day...I had it three times today just randomly coming in.
