I just saw this thread here and was wondering if the forum administrators had a way to prevent access like this.

Open proxy list. Block access to the forum (even reading) if the proxy is on an open list much as smtp servers with open relays are quickly blocked. Please excuse my lack of appropriate terminology as I'm no networking expert. But I hear what others are saying. 😉 Scammers and spammers must be stopped.
