Something new about the "LAST" button...
I know it's been mentioned that the last button DOES exist on the forum listing page, but not in the thread.
But when you SEARCH for a thread, the last button doesn't even exist on the forum listing page.

Example: Heroes

Thank you for taking away the big and clunky 'Topic Tools' box. :)

Is everybody getting their 'Ignored Users' feature working correctly?

UGH! there's too much space between posts, therefore more scrolling needed and it takes me longer to browse through threads.

edit: maybe make the icons between the posts smaller, and there's too much wasted space on the top of a page (where it says Topic title, Summary, Created On, Rating).

1. There is a topic tools button off on the side of the screen that I have to scroll to.

2. Is there a way to make it so that you automatically subscribe to a thread when you post in it?

edit: 3. This. Table headers going off the page.

Those are just little things. For the most part I like the forum upgrade.

Hello Moderator,

Well, for my money I really like the upgrade to the Forum software. The topics are brighter and read a bit easier. Just thought you'd like to know. TheBeagle :D

P.S. You should really ignore any negative comments about the new software. Some folks don't seem to have anything better to do than criticize other folk's work. Anyway, my late Mom (God rest her soul) always told me that if you can't something nice, it's better not to say anything at all!

I'd love to see a changelog because they haven't fixed any of the obvious bugs from the last release and they just made it worse by releasing sloppy code without beta testing it. They may have fixed some stuff under the covers but to the end user, all I care about is that with a very vanilla install of a very popular browser I'm not presented with mistakes that a first year programmer would make.

I don't have a problem that they're changing the styles because that's their prerogative but it's completely unusable in this state. Why does AT have to be the guinea pig for testing that should have been completed long before this upgrade was even planned?

Nice! imho search makes the forums a LOT more useful. I've frequently have had to go to other forums when trying to dig up information about something.

Maybe you should reread the first post?

We've completed the upgrade of the forum software, please post any issues here and we'll get to them as soon as we can.

Thanks

AFAIK, there's no way to unsubscribe from the current thread other than going to the complete list of all your subscribed threads (apparently called My Forums now, for some strange reason), searching for the thread with some string, checking the checkbox and then going to the bottom of the list and clicking the unsubscribe button.

I find that very very strange. It's been that way, AFAIK as long as I've been coming here. Is there another way?

Searched for
All of these words: MicroCenter
Forum Categories: Hot Deals
Search what: tried all three
Display results: tried both
Search for messages posted in the last: 10 days
Get nothing despite the fact that there are 2 threads on the first page for me with MicroCenter in the title.
Same no results with "2GB" as the search words and there are 2 threads with that in the title as well.

edit: Well, that's one way to fix things, I suppose. Get rid of all the options that don't work and. sooner or later, what's left will work. Hopefully still in a state of flux?
eliminated all search options for words
eliminated all search options for title or body
eliminated current vs archived choices

at least what's left worked for me now.

edit: darn, I'm logged in as the same old me.

and the regular (non-advanced) search doesn't look in the Topic Summary anymore
try searching "Daywatch" vs "Day Watch" ... you'll see what I mean

edit: oops ... is it possible that this is a consequence of the "search indexes are rebuilding now"?

Everyone's entitled to their opinion, just as you are. When basic functionality is broken or missing, it needs fixing, hence why Jason created this thread. No-one is seriously imagining they're going to revert to the old version. Well if they are, they need help ;)

Besides, we fear change :Q

No kidding. This thread is for identifying problems so they could fix them... which they have been doing quite quickly if possible (like removing thread rating from OT). But to say 'it sucks... go back to the old one', THAT WON'T HAPPEN.

Seconded, it was an easy way to find threads I'd read in OT again later.

I'm glad i saw that someone mentioned this. This is horribly annoying. I can deal with pretty much every other change..it's new, but i'll get used to it. Not being able to tell which threads i've read when there are thousands of threads? That i don't like. I'm sure that can be a very simple fix too...i would hope.

This has probably already been mentioned a hundred times but...

there is no "last" button to navigate to the end of a thread while within the thread when in a thread with multiple pages. The only last button I can find is next to the topic title when viewing the threads. There is not one within the threads themselves. Thanks :)

edit: although thank you for including the " << " button when at the end of the thread :p

I spotted 2 issues when reading an OT thread, pretty self-explanatory:

Click

There's loads of space for the thread title, and the scrollbar thing is bizarre.

Could be...
''Search indexes are being rebuilt right now, I've turned off full text search until that's done. I believe that part of the problem with search was that the catalogs were WAY out of date. "

Looks nice, couple things, though.

The left navigation bar is too wide and makes the forum portion too narrow. Hiding and re-showing the nav menu all the time is annoying, though.

Even though the nav menu is wider, the forum names are still cut off with the ... instead of displaying fully.

And finally, the options in the upper right (new topic, profile, etc.) are too close together and not separated enough.

Other than that I really like it.

I can deal with everything except for the fact that the visited links don't change color. That makes the forum almost unusable to me.

A minor gripe is that the side navigation is way too large. There is a ton of wasted place there. I can deal with that though as long as the visited link color thing is fixed!!!!

My 60Hz monitor is stabbing my eyes right now from the selection of color choices, but aside from that things seem to be ok. The Latest Category Posts link under My Forums is shoved over to the side a bit too much, though.

EDIT: And it's not the white text boxes themselves that bother me so much as it is the bright white sidebar in my peripheral vision.

God help me for saying this, and I swear I'm not being an ass from the whole copyright infringement versus theft thing, but...........issues != negative comments.

I guess you are generally hateful to everybody on these board, eh?

Ok, let me go on record to say that I hate this new look.

"My Forums" was a one-stop shop to see everything that I've posted recently and all the hot topics. Now, I have to click around in there to see it.

The left menu with the forum categories is way too wide.

You can only go through pages of threads one page at a time.
