all searches are coming up with the "search contains ignored words" probably has to do with what you said above.

Hang on folks, we're working on it. Looks like the catalogs are corrupt so we'll be wiping all of em and start indexing from scratch. Given that the database has over 18,000,000 messages it will take awhile 🙂

Can you use the knowledge with in the DC forum to split the loadFarm out some of the indexing to each AT user?😛

hehe. The issue is really the size of the FT indexes, they are monstrous now with the amount of content in the db. We're talking over 5gb of just indexing, which is on top of a 30GB database. We're currently rebuilding all of the indexes it will take some time. I believe archives takes almost 3 days 🙂

when i do a search, i only get one field:

Search Phrase:

What happened to name, and the other search fields?

lol.. congrats @ your 6th aniversary on AT

hm.. could the search function breakdown be an attention whoring device for your aniversary? ie: "look, i've been here 6 years. look at my joined date. look at me... " 🙂

If they're redoing the index, it may be that there isn't full function yet, and removing most of the search options means we have a working search for body/title text, but the usernames aren't iindexed yet?
Just be glad part of the search works 😛 I would assume they took the others away due to a problem which is being fuxed.

This is a problem I had prior to the current search issues:

In IE, when I do a search and am given a list of results and click on one to read it, when I hit the back button to return to the list of search results I get the "page expired" message.

This does not happen with firefox but I prefer to use IE since I visit more than one site that does not function properly with firefox.

Corrupt indexes? What the hell, when did AT start running on Eudora?

Search will be back up today sometime, just waiting on some indexes to finish. Archived content will be 2-3 days before its fully restored.

Everything but archived searches is up for use, however it will take a few more hours to index the main tables.

It took long enough Jason Clark, but the db issue appears fixed, thanks

As said above, with a 30gb database welcome to full text indexing 101.

I'm impressed Jason; initially you posted it would be :around" 3 days, thanks

Is there a way to backup these indexes so a simple restoration can be done instead of reindexing everything?

screw3d, nope. SQL 2005 will have that functionality however.

Just out of curiosity, how long did it take to re-index everything Jason?

How can I make only current unviewed items be displayed? When I do a search in the For Sale forum it does not list them by date. Please help.

Whenever I do a search the threads that are found are never in order by date. I'm looking to buy a hdd in FS/FT so I searched for "gb" and found a thread with the Last Post from July 20th at the top 😕

Here's a screen cap to give you an idea of what I mean.

Really difficult to find anything recent. This isn't a recent thing, either. Been happening for quite a while now.
