I went for Chinese food today for lunch and my fortune cookie had an interesting and applicable message for today.

"Measure how far you've come, not where you came from."

Then on the back it said, "This fortune was meant for a liberal, if you are conservative, you already do this."

Ok, so that last part was a joke. But honestly, the message rings true especially when you start talking about today's socioeconomic debates.

Stating the message rings true means nothing but that it is your opinion that it rings true. And of course, the message is exactly wrong. If you measure where you came from, were that possible with instrumentation rather than introspection, you would find only the Garden of Eden and then the great fall into egoism and the illusion you have become someone. In shout we came from perfection and now live in unconscious misery over our loss. It's why we attach to things. We feel worthless and need them to prop up our ego.

All we do is achieve a bigger and bigger, read sicker and sicker, ego. The kingdom of heaven is within you and has always been hiding there, but you have to die to the self to be reborn in the heaven that is all around you. Good luck with it. So far you are upside down in the mission.
