No, more capacitance would not be the answer. Using caps in parallel to reduce ESR would
be a step in the right direction. The best solution aside for a rework of the unit would be
high-end output caps with very low ESR and high ESL.

So lower ESR and higher ESL reduces ripple for any given capacitance?
