Sometime around August 15 we should expect another SETI race, in celebration of the WOW! Signal that was recorded....42?... years ago. I think this is another SETI.Germany hosted event.

Maybe somebody should start a new thread for this event.

50% chance they forgot to choose a project. 😳
20% chance they chose one with a special character, e.g. "Mersenne+2"
30% chance something else happened.

Asteroids@home
The aim of the project is to derive shapes and spin for a significant part of the asteroid population. As input data, we use any asteroid photometry that is available. The results are asteroid convex shape models with the direction of the spin axis and the rotation period.
Jan. 2017 Working Project. CPU and NVIDIA GPU. Windows, Linux, Mac, FreeBSD, and Android.

Asteroids is pretty interesting. On this page, if you click a link under the "shape" column, you can see what they think an asteroid looks like based only on how a tiny light in the sky blinked!

Yesterday I tried to put one machine to work on Wanless Mersenne +2, but it said Windows x64 machines weren't supported, which must be wrong. I assume it will eventually be selected for a sprint, so even though it it said to be "junk math," any insight on getting it to run would be helpful.

Oh, well that's a problem. I guess I won't worry about participating, then.

As for Asteroids, it seems that North American time zones got screwed in the deal this time around. I've only seen one WU hit all day, and that got done and uploaded since networking is on.
