Well, my bunkers didn't fill properly, so I had to decide whether to flush and refill or let some projects idle. On a couple, it is Milkyway that didn't get enough tasks, too bad I can't selectively allow network access.

I for one want to study the handling of two (or more) client instances per host still before May, but am not sure whether I will have the spare time.

Does anyone know how often FB updates stats for sprint projects? Does it vary with each one?

Each hour, at the top of the hour, is how they have reported the last two Sprints. So we should know the first results in about 15 minutes.

Strange scoring system, apparently it doesn't matter how many tasks you complete, it only matters how much TIME you spent on the task. So yes, crashtech, that old idle C2D Quad can produce just as many points as a Skylake i5 overclocked to 6.78GHz on liquid nitrogen. 😉 ...Assuming it finishes the tasks prior to the race's end.

I wasn't expecting a LOT of points, but 277k is a little disappointing (from the bunker that I had).

EDIT: Only SETI.USA has surpassed our first hour results, by ~25%. Assuming we take one of the medals and AMD Users do not, we have already passed them in the Marathon, and will keep the 6th place that we just earned.

Core 2 Duo, 2.33 GHz:

15 tasks (3.2 tasks per core and GHz and day)
1,870 points (125 points per task)​

Phenom II X4, 2.5 GHz:

39 tasks (3.9 tasks per core and GHz and day)
5,076 points (130 points per task)​

i7-4960X, 4.5 GHz, 11 threads used:

193 tasks (3.9 tasks per thread and GHz and day, 7.1 tasks/core/GHz/day)
28,639 points (148 points per task)

Yeah well I dusted off and fired up the Duron 700 system, which is oc'd to 900, AND I just got new "D" batteries installed on the mono cassette player for the Timex Sinclair 1000, so it will be online soon too! (joking of course)

This is fairly good points. Three times better than Credit New.

BOINC "Credit New", or whatever it's called, gives about: 0.01 times total WU seconds = points.
I did a few TN Grid WUs yesterday, they were about 0.006 before they were about 0.01

I have a Dell XPDFK board that I got for cheap, had to solder new fan connectors to match their proprietary cr*p fan headers, but now it sounds like a small turbine; there is no provision in the BIOS to adjust fan speed at all... 🙁 You have clearly had better luck with Dells than I have!

Edit: Maybe I should buy complete boxes instead of trying to cobble together one of their boards, lol.

I once hot-wired one of the super-tower fans to run 100%. I was curious because the fan was massive and double thick. I think it measured out to be a 160mm by 50mm fan. Anyway, at 100% speed, that thing sounded like a cheap wet/dry vacuum cleaner. It was unbearable.

You could try soldering in a resistor to slow the fan(s).
