Second in the sprint, but looks like we are gaining ground though. Must be that core duo I fired up ;)
Thanks Mark for coming on board :)
Picked up 6 points in the marathon though those stats, like yesterday, are a bit behind the sprint stats.
Nice crunching everyone !!!

OK, all back to WCG ! 176,118 points total !

Edit: on the 1700x issue, that box has a video card running F@H. It may be interfering with NF@H a lot more than WCG. WCG looses 10% from what it is without the video card.

Regardless, the $400 to $500 Ryzen looses in some things by as much as 10%, but compared to retail Xeons, its 1/3rd the prices, which makes it a Xeon killer. The only reason I got these 4, was I snagged them used on ebay for $350 each ! They are normally $1500 each

Edit 2:
Now those Xeons are $463, same seller, same product.

Thanks Mark, well done. We don't mind if you hang around until 2100 UTC tomorrow ya know. :)

*********************

CPU benchmarking occurs at client start-up, I viewed the 1700X's most recent tasks before my comment, and for 7000 seconds it was still getting 50-ish points instead of 180-200.

********************

At least we're safely ahead of OcUK now. Probably. ;)

Re Ryzen 1700X:
Could it be that NF@H miscalculates credits if the client hasn't been benchmarked?

I.e. View -> Advanced View -> Tools -> Run CPU benchmarks. This will pause all current tasks and do some brief benchmarking. When this is over and normal crunching is resumed, then I guess an "update" to the project is in order. Then check the host's web site again if more plausible float and int ops/sec have been filled in.

Normally this benchmarking should be done automatically by the client when needed.
So I did this, and turned NF@H back on for the 1700x.

Edit: How do I do this "Then check the host's web site again if more plausible float and int ops/sec have been filled in." ??

Go to your NF@H "Account", View computers, find the computer and click on "Details", scroll down to "Measured floating point speed" and "Measured integer speed" to see what the last Benchmark run came up with (or the number you entered in its place).
Warning: BOINC stops crunching to run benchmark. If something else is using CPU the result will be low and you can get lower points!! So stop other programs when running benchmark or set BOINC to not run benchmarks.

EDIT: Mark, come back!! OcUK - Overclockers UK is about to pass us :(

148 cpu's back, and it looks like the Ryzen 1700x fix worked. Let me know if you see this too. And let me know when I can go back to WCG.

edit: 181,629 at 7:48 pm PST and running and 1700x is fixed I think.

I've dug out an i7-940 and it's churning away on my right hand, awful crowded on my desk as I have nowhere else for these machines to go...

I should post some pics.... I have no dining room table, the computer room is full and 2 bedroom are so hot I can;t stand it.

Tony, let me know if you want me to let loose the 32 vores of my dual 6276 Opteron server on this project. It really hot, but it might kick arse.

what the heck, bored and curious, so I turned on 32 more cores, for 180 total.

BUT, BTW the Opteron 6276's with 32 cores does 1970 million floating, and my Ryzen 1700x with 8 cores (16 threads or half) does 4275 million. Quite the improvement for just a few years. So well over 100% improvement for half the core, or about 5x performance.

Please let me know when I can turn this power hog off. At least my curiosity is now gone....

Edit. I do have 7 more computers, where the CPU is idle, 3930k, 6700k, 4970k just to mention the 3 best. Just feeding the video cards, but its at least 28 more cores, and then I have 1 950 with 8 cores not turned on.

WOW, thats 216 cores if I turned them all on.

I think we're in a real fight, I've basically suspended GPU computing to put all CPU towards this effort. I've lost exact count, 90+ threads.

Thanks for chipping in, Mark!

I tried another tweak tonight. I re-benchmarked my hyper-threaded CPU with only half the cores active. I think that might grant me more credit per WU.

I also got my i7 today but didn't have time to set it up. I hope I can tomorrow. But probably not in time to affect this race.

An i7, and you aren't staying up to play??? Weak sauce, dude! :D

Could somebody send me the link showing how we are doing in this race against the OCUK ?

Dang... If I had not turned mine off this morning we would have been OK. Well, now I am pissed, so let the circuits burn...Turning on more power.

12 more cores, 192 at the moment.

Passed us, eh?
Today ?

From the link looks like Sunday, easter 2 pm PST ??

So my 192 cores might bring us back....
