Alonso still managed 5th place with a car that was really not competitive. The stewards let him go for the pass of Verne, ruling that Alonso had nowhere else to go, and was much faster than Verne, so really didn't gain an advantage.

Another ridiculously boring race. I didn't even bother watching the entire thing.

Didn't want to see dopey's smile on the podium again.

Alonso was still penalized, by the curb, not the stewards though

Any Kimi is down for the year. Didn't his back issues were that serious. With the G's they sustain I'm curious how permanent of a solution it'll be. I imagine the pay issues with Lotus made the decision to have it down now a lot easier.

Lotus hasn't paid him, and now Ferrari get a better chance at WDC points. No way Valsecchi is going to be as good as Kimi (as I say this watch him get a podium at USGP).

so currently, the driver switches are:

kimi goes to ferrari 2014
massa goes to williams 2014
perez out, magnusen in mclaren 2014
maldonado out of williams 2014, maybe going lotus?
kovaleinen fills in at lotus for last 2 races

Lately Maldonado to Lotus has started to gain more credence - probably because Nico Hülkenberg still hasn't signed with them. With the financial deal settled, and both the financers and Boullier wanting him, there should be no reason for the delay, other than bean counters suggesting that the extra money would make the car faster than Hülkenberg can make it.

Frankly, I wouldn't want to see Maldonado in the Lotus seat.

But let's speculate some on the lower end:
Will Pic get replaced with Kovaleinen?
Does Max Chilton have the dough to stick around for another season?
Will Bianchi replace DiResta or Sutil at Force India?
If Hülkenberg should stay with Sauber, does that mean Gutierrez will lose his place in favor of Sirotkin?

Eight in a row.
I'm not sure I'd bet on the ninth at Interlagos, but it's still quite likely to happen.
The combination Vettel + RB9 is even more dominant in the second half of 2013, than the combination with RB7 was across 2011.

And that Webber can't get past RoGros in a slower car (not as much slower at Austin than at Suzuka, where he also had his problems) is showing that it's high time that the old timer liberates the cockpit to someone who has a bit more speed.

Too bad that Heikki couldn't transform the initial form to quali and the race, and then got embroiled in that brutal midfield fight. Great to see Bottas keep his Williams in the points, and with a relative ease. Fantastic move he put on Gutierrez too. Considering that it was two rookies duking it out in a place where "you can't overtake", that was pretty cool. One of the overtakes of the season, easily.

Great drive by Hülkenberg once more, and generally the Sauber is recently almost matching the form of the Mercedes. I'm still hoping the 23 Million Euro Maldonado is bringing to the table won't make Lotus decide against the Hülk.

Of course, those 23 Million might be what it takes to make RoGros 2014 world champion.

Another snoozer of a race. I honestly don't care about the battle for 4th place. I want a fight for the lead, something sorely lacking this year. Just boring.
