***Formula One - French GP*** - Possible Spoilers

Anyone else getting exciting for the upcoming race, especially after the letdown of the USGP (let's keep the thread about the French GP and NOT the USGP).

Qualifying is already done, and the grid looks to be quite interesting.

We have Alonso on pole, which was to be expected, and Trulli right next to him in P2. Then Schumi in P3 (since Kimi goes to 13th due to engine change).

I'm curious to see how Schumi will perform from 3rd. I think he'll get podium at the very least. Trulli has been the surprise of the season, constantly kicking ass in qualifying and doing very well in the races.

I hope Montoya gets podium finally, he deserves it. He's been fast in the past three race weekends.

hahaha...silly BAR-Honda..😛

altho they are looking good this time around, Sato did an excellent job in Quali..but we don't know how much fuel he has.

hehe...he did ok considering he lost two gears in his 3rd lap!

Alonso stole the show though..he lapped everyone up to 3rd!!!

Ya, Renault and Monsieur Alonso are killing everyone this year. Hopefully, Ferrari will come back a little towards the second half of the season. (Or for that matter anyone to make it a little more interesting). I think the last time the driver's title was on the line in the last GP of the season was back in like '99 or so when it was Eddie Irvine against Hakinnen. It's been pretty one sided in almost every season since. Not that I really cared the past few seasons when Mr. Schumacher took the title.

If Kimi didn't start 13th I think he would have won that race. Clearly for a guy to start 13th and finish second just 13 seconds back from the leader at the end of the race shows you that McLaren are the team with the best race pace. I think it's going to be a close fight between Kimi and Fernando at the end of this season.

Kimi qualified 3rd with more fuel on board than any other car on the grid!!! I think McLaren would have gone for less fuel for quali and a 3 stop strategy if it weren't for the engine change on Raikkonen's car on Friday.

i didn't catch the start. i woke up at 5:30am... saw Alonso running 1st... so I went back to sleep. lol.

looks like i didn't miss much. 😀

^ definately. The Kimi & McLaren combo is superior to the Alonso & Renault combo, when everything is working right.

I think in hte past 5-6 races, Kimi should have won if it wasn't for his suspension failure (it was his fault) or engines going 'klablamo'.

I feel bad for JPM, he gets screwed every time! I really wanted to see him on the podium. Oh well.

Jordan is gonna release their 'new' car in Hockenhiem. It was supposed to be released in Silverstone, but they got some early reliability issues. Sad part is that during French practice sessions, NK (driving teh current car) managed to almost match the time set by teh third driver driving the 'new' one. So let's see how it works. The team prinicpal was saying with the nwe car they would be challenging RedBull and Sauber, yea right! 😀 That ain't happening.

Anyone else hoping for a rain race soon? I'm getting sick of these dry races.

czech09: In 2003, the Championship was decided in the last race, it was a close battle. The dominating seasons were 2002 & 2004.

BAR-Honda's on the boards! w00t!

damn Sato, with that terrible move on Trulli. oh well, at least Button got 4th. 🙂

Trulli isn't a moving chicane though, that is relegated for his team-mate, Half Shuntmaster.

Well I'm going to watch the rerun later 😱 but was Trulli holding up the field while Alonso ran away?

I don't know if it's just Toyota's way to get attention by running light in qualifying and fade away during race... or the car just eats Michelins for lunch. 😕

Now there's a guy who is lucky to have a drive this year. He's getting killed by Trulli this year in the same car!!! I'm sure he's getting more money than Trulli also, which was JPM's gripe about Williams last year.

The only reason he is in F1 right now is because his last name is Schumacher.

bR: yeah, he was holding up the crowd. The toyota has handling issues over the long run, not sure why though. But generally, Trulli has pace and really pushes that Toyota.

Jules: Definately! RS doesn't deserve a seat this season! He's apparently getting more than double of Trulli.

Did you catch that half hour special they ran on Speed prior to the first USGP practice a couple weeks ago? There was a 15 minute spot in there on old Ralfie boy. I couldn't believe it. Talk about one of the least interesting guys to interview. Willie Weber must have arranged that.

No, I missed all hte special shows that they had. Even missed hte F1 Lifestyle show they had on CBS last weekend, which was really good apparently.
