Hell Yeah! :D

One little mistake and your car fly off the cliff... I still can't believe they can race at that speed in those environments...

To me the drivers are perfectly sane, it's the spectators that are f'ing nuts!

The most funny thing about comparing the "Spectators" is out of ALL the drivers, lets look at Mark Martin, he can race in a "Redneck" sport, do a Viagra commercial, and everyone can laugh at him for it... guess what though, he's out there having fun AND.... AND he LAUGHS at ALL of us on his way to the bank.... now, just how cool are WE ;)

I like your name BTW Oldsmoboat ;)

I prefer to watch open-wheel racing, so Forumla 1... I guess. It's not exactly the best show these days. The technology has a certain appeal, but the lack of racing makes watching it almost unbearable. The cars are incredibly sophisticated, but the aerodynamic refinement has produced a car that's really good in clean air and can't do anything when following another car. Hence the lack of passing.

To be honest, any form of racing that consistently has lots of wheel-to-wheel action and close finishes is exciting, and NASCAR delivers that for sure. I'm just not a big fan of the 475 miles and dozen caution flags it takes them to get to that point every week.

See open wheel bores me when it's F1 or CART, I like KART just because for one I can AFFORD to do it Myself and not have to have a fancy name with it, second they still go 120MPH, take turns at 3 G's and they have a damn 2 stroke motor, there my sophistication ;) Change a RING and a PISTON and boom good as new 40HP out of 125cc's baby.

But when it comes to full size cars the ONLY thing that gives me a woodie is when the car is DOT legal, drives up to the track, races, is fast, and then DRIVES home, now THATS cool :D

CART is the perfect blend.
Open wheel cars.
Both ovals and race/street tracks.
Close wheel to wheel racing.
Still a fair amount of hightech.

Karting is some crazy stuff, I'm always entertained by a good kart race. They hardly ever show it though.

I first started watching Formula 1 back in the early 90's when they had active suspension. Watching a car that could lower itself on straightaways for max speed, then raise for max suspension travel when it got to a braking/cornering zone was incredible. And banking through a turn like an airplane was the coolest thing I ever saw.

F1. Formula One should ban PIT STOP refueling though imo.
It adds nothing to the racing drama(TIRE changes would still be there to entertain those out there who likes to watch the PIT STOP). I'd much rather see Formula One cars deal, in their own way, with the extra load and as the cars gets lighter and lighter with each lap of the race.

I'd agree with you on that. CART is in trouble though, the IRL split has really hurt American open-wheel racing. Now IRL even has a better TV deal than CART. And chasing Honda and Toyota away, that has to be the stupidest move ever.

F1? Too much politics. Team Ferrari that is :disgust:.

i totally agree. I like NASCAR because of a few reasons:
- they sound better
- depends more on the driver than the car
- little/no politics involved
- still shows that even if the tech is old, it can still do the job ;)
- you can be a relatively unsuccessful team/car and still win
- have to keep track of fuel consumption during long green flags
- have to keep track of track temperature, wind and other such conditions very carefully

It's a shame to see that happen. I'm a huge fan of CART because of the different tracks and no tricks like active suspention and $hit. It's more of a drivers competition than F1. F1 is great but the suspense is gone. IRL just plain suck because they only do ovals.
Don't misunderstand me, I've seen some great oval racing but a little diversity is never wrong.
The NASCAR races are to long and the restrictor plate races $uck even more. 3 hours of boredom with all cars running in a big mess.

For all out explosive displays of power, try tractor pulls. They do the equivilent of pulling a small house complete w/ slab foundation and leave you in awe from the drivetrains that can hold the torque without causing fatalities from parts flying across state lines.
