that marine had so much luck on his side.

not often does a gun misfire, and if it hadnt, the story would have been different.

Add to that - if the attackers had any sense they wouldn't have been close enough for him to kick the shotgun out of their hands.

Yep, very lucky. But then, you make your own luck as well.

Even if the .380 had worked properly, it probably wouldn't have even slowed the guy down.

Bravo Zulu, Marine.

Still, I feel bad for him - justified or not (and this clearly was IMO), it can't be a good feeling to have stabbed a pregnant teenager to death. This will stay with him for a long time.

Speak for yourself. I'd feel awesome taking out one present and one future worthless criminal who have no place on our planet.

That's big talk, but I betcha it's not true, unless you're a sociopath. Have you ever killed anyone?

Nope, can't say I have. It's not 'big talk', I'm merely saying it wouldn't bother me in the least to play the only hand I could play to survive in a situation such as the one this guy was in. 'Big talk' would be claiming 'mad knife skillz' (I have none; I'd have been robbed and hurt/killed) or that I go around doing this (look out, Superman!).

chalk one up for the good guys

poor guy will probably be sued in civil court though and the right jury in that area will slap him with an eleventy billion dollar judgement for "wrongful death"

When I read the article, I thought that it stated it was found out that the girl was not pregnant after all. Did they change the article or did I just misread? I'm not interested in registering with the site to view the article again.

Guess there's no such thing as a 'former' Marine. 😉

The thieving tards found out a little late. Kickass.
Aw, comon, I thought this was quotable. 🙁

Yeah.....looks like she wasn't pregnant...

Early reports were that Martin was pregnant, but the autopsy concluded otherwise, said the Fulton Medical Examiner's Office.

He should have just given them his money. He was damn lucky that the gun misfired and that he disarmed the robber with the shotgun.

How did he know they weren't going to kill him anyway? If I had just gotten a good look at five people with guns and knives who were crazy enough to chase me down the street trying to rob me, I'd be a little worried that they might want to make sure nobody was left to identify them to the police. He was definitely lucky, but I would have interpreted that as a fight-or-die situation.

Translation: He knew what he was doing. They did not. 😉

I'm a little mis-quoted in your post. Fixed. 🙂

I'm glad the Marine made it through OK, it's too bad someone had to die, even a piece of trash like her. Hopefully her companions will get the message and turn theirs lives around.
