Call me when you guys are even listed on the presidential ballot by more than 50% of the states...
One word: "Representation"
I'm not sure what the point of your response is. I associate myself with the Libertarian party, but because there's no true representation on the ballot, does that mean I should just "give it up" and align myself with the left (the unpredictable dumb) or the right (the predictable dumb)?
Not at all. I think you should support and vote for whoever you believe is best for this country. If the person that you think is best for the job is not on the ballot then write that person in. I may not support who you choose but I will fight until the day I die for your right to choose that person and as a Libertarian I know you can greatly appreciate that more than most.
My point is that words like "best", "better", "worse", "right", "wrong", "fair", "progressive", etc are important and have meaning, but the bottom line is that each and every one of them is also 100% subjective. That is why we utilize a system of representation even though I most certainly recognize that there are flaws within our system. It is not terrible though. It does work well enough though. The people have every bit of freedom to choose who they wish to represent them as the President of the United States. If we really wanted a Libertarian President then we would vote for a Libertarian president.
The LP complains that they are not represented enough. They claim that people just don't know what they really want and that there are better options that truly represent them. Perhaps that is true. Perhaps it is not. Perhaps enough people simply don't care? I don't claim that their party is without a disadvantage. They are thanks to the media. However, it is not like the media is preventing the distribution of information about the LP and its pros and cons. I mean, all of the info is out there. It is only a click away now thanks to the internet. NOTHING is stopping anyone from researching a 3rd option if they are unsatisfied with choosing between Dem and Repub.
Like it or not, that is simply the way it is.
