I've heard 2 news reports that Paul McCartney is being treated for a brain tumor. It's sad news for him and the world, especially after Linda's death from cancer.

I hope the guy pulls thruogh.

I'm pretty sure now that it was George, only he won't say exactly what happened. Apparently, a British newspaper reported that it was a brain tumor. I don?t know why two different radio stations said it was Paul

Guitars are gently weeping for former Beatle George Harrison, who is being treated for a brain tumor.

Harrison released a statement Monday saying that he's "feeling fine" after receiving radiotherapy treatment at the Oncology Institute of Southern Switzerland in Bellinzona over a month ago.

"I am feeling fine and I am really sorry for the unnecessary worry which has been caused by the reports appearing in today's press," Harrison said in the statement.

According to the Swiss weekly Sonntagszeitung Harrison has regularly visited the region of Ticino, Switzerland, over the past two months. It also said he rented a house 40 minutes away in Luino, Italy.

Harrison, 58, has a history of cancer. He had surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., at the beginning of May to remove a cancerous growth from one of his lungs.

His lawyers said that after the successful operation he traveled to Italy to rest.

He also was treated for throat cancer in the late 1990s after he found a lump on his neck. He had surgery followed by two courses of radiation therapy at the Royal Marsden Hospital, Britain's leading cancer treatment center.

"Luckily for me they found that this nodule was more of a warning than anything else. There are many different types of cancerous cells and this was a very basic type," he said at the time.

In 1999, Harrison also suffered a punctured lung when he was stabbed by a man who broke into his home west of London. Michael Abram, 34, was acquitted by reason of insanity and confined to a mental hospital.

Earlier this year, the intensely private Harrison said: "I had a little throat cancer. I had a piece of my lung removed in 1997. And then I was almost murdered.

"But I seem to feel stronger. I don't smoke any more. I'm a little more short of breath than I used to be, so I don't see myself on stage lasting a full 14 rounds.''

The Beatles broke up in 1970 and Harrison, the youngest and quietest of the Fab Four went on to a successful solo career.

This is indeed weird. Last night, I heard on AM 1500 in Minneapolis/St. Paul, during Art Bell's program, that is was Paul, and today I just heard it on 91.1, Minneapolis/St. Paul's NPR affiliate that it was Paul, so I posted that it was Paul. I just tried searching for Paul on the net and see the reports that George is going through the whole ordeal. No matter who it turns out to be, the former Beatles have been having a tough time lately. I'm sorry if I posted something in error.

Aw, c'mon! That was pretty low. Someone's got a brain tumor here. Our own Hzl_Eyed_Grl has gone through it. And I happen to like the Beatles. I was introduced to them when I was still in the womb. My parents, though no longer sharing their lives together, still share a love for the Beatles, with each other, and both of their children. My sister's middle name, Julia, can be attributed the Beatles song of the same name.

Well, they make people miserable for awhile, but it seems to help most if it's caught early enough. A personal friend of mine has been in remission for awhile, but 2 years ago, she wasn't sure she would be living to see her (now 18 Y.O.) daughter graduate from H.S.

I wasn't condeming all Beatles tunes. Just the majority of the stuff Harrison wrote. Have you ever listened to that Harrison tune on Sgt. Peppers with all the scitar crap? It's just nasty.

Amish... &quot;Within You, Without You&quot; is one of the deepest and most profound songs in the Beatles catalogue. Have you ever listened to the words?? If your a shallow person, you probably wouldn't understand, but those lyrics reflect a time and place in our collective conscioussness. In 1967, for THE MAJOR stars of entertainment to have included that song took MAJOR BALLS! Think of it, music that actually had something to say, and raise questions about the meaning of life!!

This was a group of very talented people who actually believed in LOVE and PEACE and SPIRITUAL GROWTH. And still do today! Despite all the pressure to sell out and make music that OTHER people think will sell and be commercially profitable, the Beatles, collectively, and individually have maintained thier integrity, and should be commended for that.

Maybe todays generation of young people need to see that you CAN be successful expressing yourself without resorting to images of violence, disrespect and degradation.

And as to your reference to 'all the crap' that George Harrison wrote: Here Comes The Sun... Something... Taxman... Love Comes to Everyone... All Things Must Pass... While My Guitar Gently Weeps... If I Needed Someone... Long, Long, Long...

Granted he is no Lennon or McCartney, but, you gotta admit, despite the competition, or maybe because of it, he certainly is a talented song writer. I read a quote once where he said.. &quot; John and Paul had written most of thier bad songs long before we became big. I started a little later, when we WERE big, so mine are a little more exposed.&quot;

If Keith Richards is still alive and kicking in reasonable heath, there's no reason Paul should have a tumor!

'Tis true. I found out I had a brain tumor on my 18th birthday. It's a very hard thing to have to go through no matter what age the patient is. I hope and pray that everything goes well for him. He needs all the support he can get.
