Formatting

I was partitioning the hard drive and it froze midway. Now the hard drive is corrupt and and when I try to install Vista, it says the harddrivwe can't be formatted and isn't ntfs. How can I reformat the harddrive.

super fdisk
delete mbr (master boot record)
some programs are finicky with partially messed up drives and will refuse to partition them/format. happened to me with xp install and partiaion magic.

To format hd you can try different apps. I prefer Disk Director. I used it to format my partitions.

Yeah, Disk Director (Acronis) is more of a tank then Partition Manager's scooter.

If all else fails the drive manufacturers usually have software that can low level format drives, put them back to new state.
