i bought a seagate 160gb sata drive with ncq.

when installing windows xp, on the create partition setup page, it only allows me to format to 131gb.

im running a msi neo4 nforce4 ultra mb (not using raid)
chaintech 6600gt
corsair value ram 1gb

this is my first time using a sata drive. am i missing something?

the only diskettes that came with the mobo was for the raid drivers.

i think you need Windows XP sp2, for it to reconize that the hard drive is more than 130 GB

I know that with Windows 2000, you need SP3 or higher to format larger than 120 GB during the install, but I thought that Win XP could already handle that size...

Edit- you are formatting the volume as NTFS and not FAT32, right?

Honestly, though, unless you plan on ripping a lot of video at once, you'd probably be better off breaking it into at least 2 partitions anyway. I know that's not the answer to your question, but from personal experience I can tell you it works out a bit better.
