formatting problem

I had orginally divided my 120 GB hard drive into two partitions. One being the boot and the other just for storing stuff. But i recently reformatted just the boot and after reformatting and doing windows updates there is a folder saved on the storage partition. It won't let me delete the folder, it contains some dll's and stuff from a canceled windows update. I was wondering if there is a way to just format the storage partition, seeing that i cant do it through windows. Is it because my OS is using those files too? so if there any ways i can just force the partition to format without formatting the whole hard drive i would be really greatful. I'm using XP pro.
 
nope it's named 432. Also i was wondering about the drive letters after i formatted the boot. they switched and right now the boot is D: and the storage one is C:. is that part of the problem?
 
woa how'd that happen...if that's the case, you have to reformat again. Delete both partitions, and create only 1 partition. You can always create and format the other in windows.
 
ok that sucks, well thx for the help. Just for future reference if i wanted to format the boot partition and not the storage one how would i go about doing that without having the drive letters getting switched again.
