Formatting a Zeroed Harddrive

I recently zeroed my spare 80 gig hard drive for use with my new computer.

I connected it, set it to slave etc etc.

WinXP detected it, and it shows up in device manager and everything.

But it will not show up in My Computer.

I assume it s because I need to format it.

How do I format just that drive without installing win xp on it?
