formatted HD now smaller?

I just formatted a 13 gig HD and installed 2000PRO and it's showing it's a 2 gig. Did I reformat wrong? Any ideas what happened?

There is a jumper on some HD's that would limit the size to 2 Gigs. Also if you formatted using FAT instead of FAT32...

it was showing 12 with win98. i just wanted to clean the hd to install the 2000pro. i'm using ntfs format

Not sure how you missed the fact that it showed up as 2 gigs instead of 12 during the part when you created your partition and formatted it??

well, i found the rest of the hd unformatted. for some reason it kept back 2 gig so now i have a f drive. Any way to remove the partiton and have one drive? Does this unit being a old Dell have anything to do with this problem?

No, more likely the problem lies with the person who buys the Dell

Just delete the partition and make a new large one.

I agree. IT'S NOT MINE..haha. I can't find even find the name of the motherboard in this unit. Geez.

Hmm here I thought Win 98 could not use NTFS format.
