format c:/s =bad command or file name?

I`ve fdisked two partitions and when I try to format using format c:/s but all I get is "bad command or file name". win98se with original boot disk,all new quantum fireball lm plus, asus cusl2, radeon and alota frustration HELP ME
 
The Windows 98SE CD-ROM is not bootable, so you're using a Windows 98 Startup Disk? I don't know if you've checked, but the FORMAT utility is not on the disk, but rather on the CD-ROM. You must run it from there, and it's located in the x:\WIN98 folder.

Yes! thank you aakoch I had tried to do it from the cd-rom but I had`nt done the cd/win98 switch thing. Its formatting as I type.
