Forklift + Sprinkler Pipe

He sure was lucky that stack of boxes were right there and he managed to catch them. He was also lucky he didn't snap his leg like a twig. Very lucky fall.

management musta sh*t themselves when they saw that lol🙂

Technically, he's using a "powered walkie stacker" and not a forklift.

It looks like that's a Target by the employee dress. They obviously weren't trained well on that equipment and that first guy seemed like he was going for the actual sprinkler.

LOL. What a dumbass. He thought he was going to put a finger in the dike?

Notice when he was raising it up, his head was turned the otherway. He's too distracted, careless, and haphazard. I'd bet he has had multiple car wrecks in his life while talking on cell phone, eating, or just doing nothing. ADD for the loss!

Give him a break... he's just a high school kid that screwed up.
He was obviously trying to be careful, but hit the sprinkler anyway.

It's hilarious how he stopped the flow, then had to tweak it just a hair more and the geyser blew out.

wow, way to generalize and stereotype ftl

Pretty funny. I kinda feel sorry for the kid though... Don't know what he was trying to do AFTER he stopped the thing from spraying, but it didn't help his cause at all. 🙂

They were probably going to fire him until they watched the tape then they were laughing too hard to do anything but feel sorry for him.

no shutoff valve?

Yes, sprinkler systems have shutoff valves. However:
1. Unless they've figured out that the pipe (valves, etc) going up to the ceiling, in the corner of the room, is the sprinkler system, they wouldn't have a clue where to shut it off.
2. Even if they did know where the shutoff valve was located, it's amazing how few people really realize the old "righty-tighty, lefty-loosey" way to open and shut a valve is exactly the same as turning a water tap, or a hose bib valve......and would stand there wondering what to turn to shut off the water.
3. Just about every fire sprinkler system I've ever seen has a tie-in to the fire alarm system, so that if the sprinklers go off, it sets off the alarm. I'm sure their policy is to evacuate in the case of a fire alarm, irregardless of the reason.
4. Most of the time, the fire department shuts off the sprinklers after they've determined the fire is out.

Can you tell I work with plumbers that work on fire sprinkler system?? 😉

He probably cracked the threaded connection where it enters the tee, he then pulled on the drop to close the crack.

Until it broke 🙂

Shut off would be at the standpipe but probably chained and locked anyway.
