Forgot how much slower and more annoying websites are without noscript!

I have a fast PC - core2 quad - and use Firefox.

I thought on this install of XP I'd do without noscript and run the browser in a sandbox.

The thing is, I forgot how slow websites are with all scripts allowed as default! They take longer to load and refresh, have flashing adverts, java sliding popup windows.....it drove me insane!

Soon I was back to using addons to control scripts and flash (many great solutions for Firefox, not just noscript). I'd much rather spend a few seconds allowing a page or organising a whitelist, than be faced with slower pages, popup script boxes and advert information overload! Not to mention a little better security!

I kind of feel guilty as I know this stuff pays for sites, but it really is hard once you're used to the net without the bling!

i know how you feel, but since I never EVER intentionally click an ad then I don't see the point of wasting bandwidth and even the advertiser's money.

Very true AnonymouseUser!

0roo0roo, I know it's a killer isn't it? Whitelisting a few sites vs raping my eyes - I know which I choose!

i used ie for a bit just to see.
omg at the fake anti virus warnings and pop ups!

Something is wrong if you're getting anti virus pop ups just from opening IE and visiting a few sites. Either your PC is already infected and/or you're visiting some really shady sites.

I use admuncher now. It works for all browsers and blocks everything I have encountered along with blocking content in things like IM clients as well.

I have zero, zlich, zippo guilt over blocking ads. I am lost when I see ads flinging all over the place when browsing at a friend's home or whatever. My goal is no ads ever. I hate advertising PERIOD! Proxomitron sure was a great tool in its day. Glad for adblock plus and some other tools available today.

if you feel bad about blocking out ads there is something wrong with you. what if you could skip all commercials on tv? would you be like "oh i should be watching those commercials"? if the ad companies were smart they'll work around our anti-ad techniques and the cycle will go on naturally
