Forgetaboutit!

Yea, conner, Chicago is a liberal bastion, your delicate sensibilities would be severely impinged upon.
And yes, we have the best fucking hot dogs.
In fact, I had one of these on Saturday (Cubs game was rained out 🙁 )

I am planning a trip to Chicago as a long weekend for the end of this summer. I will not this 'best hot dog ever' and report my findings. Also, italian beef? Isn't that just a mix between a philly cheesesteak and a french dip? Regardless, I'm after one of'em. I won't even mention the deep dish stuff. What I'm really going for are some live music/blues bars.

Sheik, you may be receiving some PM's.

bueno! And no, Italian Beef is a glorious food, especially served "wet"
Portillo's is good, but a chain, there are much better local places, it just depends on where you are in the City.

And again, it really depends on where you are in the city for Blues clubs, Chicago has a great music scene.

Feel free to pm me and I'll give you as much details as I can.

Any place can make a good dog. I believe chicago dogs are probably great, but to say that chicago has the best dogs is really nothing to brag about. We are talking a $2.00 to $6.00 mismatch of normally inedible crap, not a steak or anything like that, so yeah, perhaps they are the best at making a 2 dollar agglomeration of meat related items, whether its lips, eyes, etc, but big whoop.....

Chicago already has good pizza. Let someone else have good dogs like Oklahoma City, Butte Montana, or some other town with nothing else...

Costco's are usually pretty good. They're short on the fixin's though (relish onion and mustard and... that's all they got. Unless you want ketchup.)

There is a place in Hyde Park that serves a polish sausage wrapped in Italian Beef.

It is glorious, and one of those will provide 2.5 days-worth of calories.

I know someone who works for Portillo's... and after what he was telling me goes on in those places, I would never step in there again!
If it is real Au Jus, THEN it is very good, if it is flavored water, then it sucks.

FREE sauerkraut behind the counter because they have to be kept cold.

FREE MOTHER FUCKING SAUERKRAUT.

$1.62 for polish w/ drink, incl. deli mustard, onions, and sauerkraut = undisputed QPR king.

I think Weinerschnitzel charges $3 for a 1/8th lb sauerkraut dog alone.

You could say this for 99.5% of restaurants in America. I'm better off not knowing.

FYI- I was born in Arlington Heights and have family that live there. Yes, Portillo's is quite good.

For the rest, Portillo's has an ordering webpage where you can buy their hotdogs, fixings and Italian beef.
