Forget your fines and your wheel boot!

The damage to the vehicle was probably more costly than the ticket...

Also, obligatory:

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say she cost herself 10-20X as much as the fine/tow was gonna be. Said she got the car 3 months ago, if her wonderful logic continues she'll probably just quit paying for it after she sees how much it will cost to repair and let it get repossessed.

I always found the concept of boots kind of funny.

"You can't park here, so we're going to make sure that you can't leave"

Here they just give you a ticket. It's a good thing those don't go on your criminial record (that I know of) since I've gotten a few myself before. 😳

Probably did it to prove her worth to a pile of shit show since she was leaving a casting call for some show about Bad Girls Club or some crap like that.

That went better than expected.

That, and the additional fines or jail time she gets for the entire stunt.

They tend to charge a foolishly huge amount of money for the wheel boot in most localities. The idea is to discourage this kind of action. This will cost dearly including the repair, plates, and license if she has one.

Usually the boot come after you have a certain amount of tickets so they can be sure they get what's owed to them or at least that's what parking wars had taught me. 😉

Not to mention she was moving the car while we was attaching it so she could be charged with attempted assault.

This reminded me of the most epic car owner vs boot battle. I couldn't find the original thread but found another one with the juicy bits:

http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f7/epic-hoa-parking-boot-battle-572540/#/forumsite/20623/topics/572540

Cliffs:
1 HOA parking contractor boots owners Audi for lack of parking pass in front of his house (car had been parked there for months with pass displayed - owner forgot to put it out one time)
2) Owner was going to work on the Audi anyway so he jacks it up onto rollers and rolls it into the garage.
3) Owner calls police to see if he can remove the boot. Police tell him it is illegal to damage the boot
4) Owner calls parking company and tells them to come get the boot. Tells them he won't pay. They threaten to tow and he says I'd like to see you try since its in my garage. parking company is like WTF?
5) They setup a time to get the boot. 5 cars of parking company folks and a sheriff show up at owners house. Parking guys says you've stolen the boot. Owners say you can come pick it up right now. Parking guy is no you stole it. Sheriff looks at parking guy like he's a dumbass
6) Internet descends on parking company owner who goes batshit insane and begins booting everything aggressively
7) HOA fires parking company.

Snip.
I remember that. I thought the guy was brilliant - he was very careful to not violate any laws when he did that. He was a hero for the little guys in the world. Every time I hear of a car being booted, I think of that thread. 🙂

This is why you never let anybody borrow your car.

Could have wrecked a brake line, parking brake connections, wiring, plus any damage to the inside body work, plus whatever the city charges for the boot, plus crazy fines.

You missed the last part of that whole thing - they took him to court, made a bunch of false claims and lies, and he went in unrepresented and WON the whole damn thing.
