I am a bit wary of it, but still, those prices are for real, since they are in fact sold that cheaply in those countries.

I also remembered that I'm going to India this winter, and I could probably pick up a few games while I'm there, and I don't mean pirated ones. They now sell new legitimate boxed PC games for quite cheap there, although this is a relatively new occurrence.

Three years ago there was no such thing, but when you have to compete with prices of 40 rupees (about $1) you'll learn to compete.

Not quite, I'm in India and new A-list games still cost $40 on average upon release. You have to wait an year before they go down below $20. $10 games are usually 18-24+ months old games. I think that's almost on par with what PC games go for in the US.

PS3/Xbox 360 games are much more expensive and don't quite go down in price quickly either.

Hm really? It seems like EA at least seems to price differently since Burnout Paradise Ultimate Box was $25 or so on eBay from India. And, I remember when people out of india were posting how GTA IV on PC was being sold pretty damn cheap as well upon release...then again I can't really argue with you, since I haven't been to India in 3 years.

So, does the US pay more for its PC games, like we do prescription drugs?

Yes. The reason this region based pricing bullshit exists is because fair trade is great until those uppity consumers try to use it to their advantage. If games were sold all over the earth at one price, no one would care. But since they would prefer to charge wealthier nations more for the same product you create a situation where its cheaper to buy a game imported from a poorer country. Thus, middlemen like these ebay sellers spring up as the market tries to correct this disparity.

But hey! You can't do that! Only businesses can do that by shipping your job off to a cheaper location. You still need to pay the higher prices here though because fuck you and we're assholes. Then they throw up region encoding and other arbitrary horseshit in the way.
