I have been hearing reports last night about whether other nations would send aid to america.... Any new developments this morning?

Damn, it really sucks if no other nation sends anything, since the US has been giving foreign aid for so many years...

I really don't expect hardly anyone to do ANYTHING. They are constantly bashing us, saying how bad it is here, how terrible we are, UNTIL they need money. Then after they get money it is back to the old m.o.

Calm down guys, I know that Canada is sending aid and wouldn't be surprised that Europe sends aid too. Just because you haven't heard anything, doesn't mean nothing is being done. Canada exchanges aid with the US every year in the form of forest fire fighting and when natural disasters occur.

yeah i agree bob, i really wouldn't be surprised if some a-hole decides to sue one of the airline companies. I wouldn't even be surprised if they did it and won

Without sounding arrogant, I honestly dont think America needs any foreign aid as far as rescue efforts are concerned. Britain, Canada, Japan, France and others have offerd whatever help we need. Lets not forgot Canada has 17,000+ US citizens stranded there and are feeding and housing(Hotels and Makeshift camps) them.

Probably the usual law suits, against the airlines.

God, I hope not. God help anybody who does that.

"Belgium announced meanwhile that it was sending a medical contingent to the U.S. -- doctors from Neder-over-Heembeek Hospital in Brussels, a hospital that specialises in burn treatment and five members of the federal police who are specialists in identifying corpses." - from CNN.com

Other than specialized skills in the various emergency feilds the US prolly can go alone just fine.
I don't think turning down any kind of aid while its citizens are still dieing in hospital beds should be turned down to save face though.

An interesting article that I read on another forum:

"TRIBUTE TO THE UNITED STATES
This, from a Canadian newspaper, is worth sharing.
America: The Good Neighbor.
Widespread but only partial news coverage was given
recently to a remarkable editorial broadcast from
Toronto by Gordon Sinclair, a Canadian television
Commentator. What follows is the full text of his
trenchant remarks as printed in the Congressional
Record:
"This Canadian thinks it is time to speak up for the
Americans as the most generous and possibly the
least appreciated people on all the earth. Germany,
Japan and, to a lesser extent, Britain and Italy
were lifted out of the debris of war by the
Americans who poured in billions of dollars and
forgave other billions in debts.

None of these countries is today paying even the
interest on its remaining debts to the United
States. When France was in danger of collapsing in
1956, it was the Americans who propped it up, and
their reward was to be insulted and swindled on the
streets of Paris. I was there. I saw it.

When earthquakes hit distant cities, it is the
United States that hurries in to help. This spring,
59 American communities were flattened by tornadoes.
Nobody helped. The Marshall Plan and the Truman
Policy pumped billions of dollars into discouraged
countries. Now newspapers in those countries are
writing about the decadent, warmongering Americans.

I'd like to see just one of those countries that is
gloating over the erosion of the United States
dollar build its own airplane. Does any other
country in the world have a plane to equal the
Boeing Jumbo Jet, the Lockheed Tri-Star, or the
Douglas DC10?

If so, why don't they fly them? Why do all the
International lines except Russia fly American
Planes? Why does no other land on earth even
consider putting a man or woman on the moon? You
talk about Japanese technocracy, and you get radios.
You talk about German technocracy, and you get
automobiles. You talk about American technocracy,
and you find men on the moon - not once, but several
times - and safely home again.

You talk about scandals, and the Americans put
theirs right in the store window for everybody to
look at. Even their draft-dodgers are not pursued
and hounded. They are here on our streets, and most
of them, unless they are breaking Canadian laws, are
getting American dollars from ma and pa at home to
spend here.

When the railways of France, Germany and India were
breaking down through age, it was the Americans who
rebuilt them When the Pennsylvania Railroad and the
New York Central went broke, nobody loaned them an
old caboose. Both are still broke.

I can name you 5000 times when the Americans raced
to the help of other people in trouble. Can you name
me even one time when someone else raced to the
Americans in trouble? I don't think there was
outside help even during the San Francisco
earthquake.

Our neighbors have faced it alone, and I'm one
Canadian who is damned tired of hearing them get
kicked around. They will come out of this thing
with their flag high. And when they do, they are
entitled to thumb their nose at the lands that are
gloating over their present troubles. I hope Canada
is not one of those."

Again I state my personal feelings, my heartfelt sympathies to all of you in the US, and condolences to all those who suffered from this... From this far away we too feel horror and shock at what happened, and are numbed by the enormity of this all.

Europe feels with you, European nations and government leaders already stated solidarity with the US. Churchbells in cities over here have tolled as a sign of mourning. Flags were going halfmast. European citizens have come to several embassies and consulates and offered flowers as a token of mourning.
Friday has been declared a Day of Mourning, by the European Union.

NATO Says Attack on U.S. Was Attack on Alliance
September 12, 2001 03:31 PM EDT

BRUSSELS, Belgium (Reuters) - NATO invoked a mutual defense clause for the first time in its history Wednesday, opening the way for a possible collective military response to Tuesday's attacks on the United States.

"The (NATO) Council agreed that if it is determined that this was an attack directed from abroad against the United States, it shall be regarded as an action covered by Article V of the Washington Treaty, which states that an attack against one ally is an attack against them all," Secretary-General George Robertson told a news conference.

The article commits each of the 19 member nations to take "such action as it deems necessary, including the use of armed force, to restore and maintain the security of the North Atlantic area."
Asked whether this meant NATO would take joint action, Robertson said: "The country attacked has to make the decisions, it has to be the one that asks for help. ... The U.S. is still assessing the evidence available. They are the ones to make that judgement."

In Washington, Secretary of State Colin Powell said the statement would "tee up" a possible collective response once the United States identified the perpetrators and their sponsors.

It is not belittling to receive help. It's not the time for ego; it's the time to exact justice.

Cooperation from foreign governments would be sweet to help us figure out whodunit, locate them, and FRY the bastards!

Remember a misdirected revenge aint justice! Let's do it right and HARD!
