Foreign actors with perfect American accents..

I'm always amazed when I see a foreigner act in a show/movie with no distinct accent at all, e.g. Hugh Laurie in House, Keira Knightley, and Jason Statham are prime examples.

Who else pulls off this role well?

most of the cast from Band Of Brothers are british actors...

Not really, but the English guy that played Richard Winters had an excellent American accent.

the team in Doom movie all have brit accent....except The Rock, of course, in the interviews and other specials on the 2nd DVD.

it's just weird to see the two black guys have no accent in the movie and then have the brit accent when they were interviewed.

According to Wikipedia, Keanu Reeves is a Canadian actor who was born in Lebanon to an American father and English mother.

lol. i was kidding btw.

did he ever say the word "dude" in any of the matrix movies?

if not, then he hid his accent and all associated lingo really well.

i stand corrected, he said "woah" in the first matrix movie.

bale is a good example. i also think sir anthony hopkins has a good one. its even better when he does that mock southern accent in 'silence of the lambs'.

some more:
anthony lapaglia
geoffrey rush
hugh jackman
emily watson
toni collette

I'm a Britt and when I speak there's no denying that. 🙂

However the accent is missing when I sing. Of course this is commonplace with musicians. As common as the "tastes like chicken" syndrome.

Brian Cox
Ian McKellen
Alan Cumming <--- he is awesome with all sorts of accents. A German friend of mine was amazed at how accurate his accent was as Nightcrawler.
Kenneth Branagh
Colin Farrell <--- his movies tend to suck, but he can do an accent! 😉

I don't think Mel Gibson really counts. He has pretty much gotten rid of his Aussie accent (I don't think I've ever even heard it).

the episode with Colin Farrell guest staring in Scrubs had a joke about his accents. He speaks a flawless hick accent, then just speaks regularly the rest of the episode.

regardless of his acting 'talent' - he can sure pull off an american accent.

You're right, Mel Gibson doesn't have an accent anymore...he's an American through and through.

One other guy that does a good job is the "bigger brother" on Prison Break...he's an Aussie...
