Slash taxes for everybody, try to incent production, let bankruptcy do what it does best, make speeches about how American greatness and hard work will pull us through, actually listen to business leaders, surround myself with capitalists, not academics with zero experience, etc.

Basically anything and everything the exact opposite of chief fuckstain.

So in other words make the deficit that you complain about constantly even bigger.
Are you going to start up the bread and soup lines next?

Bob the Buiulder fans?
I still can't believe nobody realized Obama stole the "Yes we can!" from Bob the Builder.

And I can't believe that nobody realizes he actually took it from Cesar Chavez.

After his death he became a major historical icon for the Latino community, and for liberals generally, symbolizing militant support for workers and for Hispanic power based on grass roots organizing and his slogan "Sí, se puede" (Spanish for "Yes, it is possible" or, roughly, "Yes, it can be done").

Don't you know...they passed Health Care...you won't hear about it.

Well idiot, the progressive Democrats would have passed single payer healthcare that covered everyone (and did pass single payer that nearly did in the House). The conservative Democrats and Republicans blocked it. We won't hear about that from you. As for what did pass - will there be more or fewer uninsured with the health bill they did pass? Won't hear that from you.

Republican plan to cover 3 million people ... SUCCESS!

Democratic plan to cover 30 million people ... FAILURE!

Think about the number - the poverty rate went down, down, and more down under Clinton - and then started going back up under Bush.

It hadn't gotten quite back up to the high of 1994 yet - and the financial crash has pushed it over that line. Ya, the financial crisis Obama started while a Senator.

And Republicans would make it much worse, again. The financial disaster has been slowed by Obama. Do we want to continue the recovery, or to bring Republicans to crash more?

The pattern of the poverty rate - under Reagan, under Clinton, under Bush - clearly indicates Republican = higher poverty, Democrats = lower poverty. Which do we want?

And I can't believe that nobody realizes he actually took it from Cesar Chavez.

And I can't believe that nobody realizes that if you are trying to come up with a slogan that's less than four syllables, expresses optimism, unity, and looks towards the future, that there is not more than a handful of phrases that are appealing enough to use in a campaign aimed at hundreds of millions of people, making the attribution game a little silly.

Cliffs: "Yes we can" (in some language or another) was uttered millions of times before Cesar Chavez was born...

In the 20 months he's been in office what would have been your recommendations he do to end the worst economic slowdown since the Great Depression?

When you find yourself in a hole.... step 1 is.. STOP DIGGING. He started furiously digging faster as soon as he got the chance, bought a bigger shovel, and tunneling equipment to reach never before seen depths. Now the hole is twice as big... shocking, really, nobody could have predicted it two years ago. Oh wait, lots of people did.

Slashing taxes would have increased the ballooning deficit just like stimulus projects have.

That's a very ambiguous answer.

How did he dig faster?

It'll just get worse.

How can you lend to people with no wherewithal and tapped out already? This crazy borrowing is what kept USA's head above water many years from homes to SBA loans blowing up fake economy on debt. No more, banks and those who got all the marbles say.

How can you restart an economy moved offshore? You are overpaid, overbenefitted, and it costs too much keeping you around. Much better to hire slave labor who will work for a tenth what you will and not complain either. And if they do the police state comes in and knocks heads.

LOL at party demagogues in this thread when they are same party. Four years aint shit to destroy middle class. This has been in the works for 30 or more. It took a hundred+ years to make them they won't go easy. Takes years of reprogramming with words like economics and free market to get back to Feudalism.

I firmly believe his polices and legislation is making any recovery extremely difficult. Businesses are very concerned about these policies and the uncertainty of his words and actions. People as well. Both business and consumers are holding onto their money. So over all he's made it much, much worse.

So you do not believe that Barack Obama's policies necessarily got us to where we are, but you also do not believe that they are helping in any way, and instead are likely exacerbating things. Is that a fair assessment of your position? It seems like it is.

Yeah those Bush tax cuts that are still in place are really helping to create jobs. We definately need to make them permanent.

Let's think this through. Consumer spending is at all time lows, this means high job loss. The WORST THING you can do in this situation is leave consumers less money to spend.

I'll ask again, are you for having a smaller deficit or giving people a couple hundred bucks more a year to spend?

That's fine cut taxes on people who will actually spend the money (i.e. the lower and middle class).

Everyone hates taxes but cuts are a canard. It's a wash if you spend it or govt spends it. It's the same thing money is moving and getting through economy unpleasant as it is to see how your money is being spent. We've been through this before. This is why economy stayed afloat as American Industrial and manufacturing disappeared. Easy to appear rich when you have credit card. That party is over, as such consumers have less to spend taking economy down with it.
