120k is NOTHING. That's a POS in my opinion. Good cars go 180k+... >>
Well that's just a bright and intelligent thing to say. Obviosuly you know nothing of mechanics of wear on an engine. It aint the miles that count, but rather what kind of miles you drive. 60 miles a day sitting in rush hour 405 traffic is h*ll worse than 150 miles per day driving on a freeway at 70mph. Let me drive your car the way I push my car and I can guarantee I'll have the tranny dead in under 3K

I think most Ford owners are clueless as to maintenance and hence subject themselves to crap (no offense SPAnDAU). It's that average joe who does his oil change every 3K but fails to notice that the engine light goes off every day until smoke comes out.

Not to diminish the works of other car manufacturers. I know Honda builds fine cars. But if you torture them like most domestics are tortured then they'll show increased rates of failure (I've seen this exemplified by many of my friends who push their Hondas and Nissans with autos too hard).
I find it odd that somebody said the Ford Fairmont was a decent car. That was my first car and it truly was a POS. You know something is wrong when the car needs a tune-up to be driven off the lot when brand new (yeah, it was my dad's first car buy). We gave Ford another chance with 2 Tauri after that and not only have they saved our lives in many instances but done their job well.
We have a 1987 Taurus wagon with 120K on it that just had a tranny replacement on it. Still the best damn car I've ever had since it got me to UCLA every morning in 405 traffic (a feat most 10 year old cars could not handle). We obviously abused the car making it haul and tow stuff outside it's spec and the tranny finally failed last year.
Maybe I'm just lucky, but I've yet to have a problem on my 3 year old Contour SVT (and I floor that thing every time a ricer challenges me hehe). I'm still waiting for something to fail (and I know it will). It's a matter of time with the way I drive and the conditions in LA.
If Ford didn't give me wonderful CC rebates on my next car I would probably get an Accord for my dad. My main motive for Ford used to be their excellent safety record which Honda and Toyota now emphasing. Too bad the Maxima is still a death trap

Spamboy: pick up 3 friends in you Honda and I'll race you with my '87 wagon with 3 friends in it. We'll see who wins

It's all about the torque baby! Plus wagons are good for ramming other cars off the road during civil disturbances
