Ok, at least they got rid of all the plastic crappy bodywork. But it's still fugly.
And they screwed up the Impala too. It was a unique looking car. Now it looks like a friggin Malibu.

I actually really like most of what Ford has out now. Fusion looks nice, if I had to buy a small car I'd definitely want a Focus hatch, and of course I'll always :heart: the F150. 500 is also pretty nice looking, I like them all.

Overall I think that Ford builds a better looking, more desireable car. From a fit & finish & quality standpoint, I think that GM builds a better transmission and has fewer naggling problems.
Focus > Cobalt
Fusion > Malibu
500 > Impala
F150 > Silverado
Explorer > Trailblazer
Mustang > no competition
I'd still rather have a GM transmission & engine though.

If I were to buy a domestic it would probably be a Ford. I know for a fact if I was buying a pickup it would be a Ford.

I picked Chev and I'm not a traditional Chev man. Owned three Fords and two Chevs I think the mechanics of Chev are more sound and reliable but the styling and interiors better in Ford although that wasn't the case in the early 90's but is today.

Talking trucks, Ford has had better engine design and better overall QC the last 10 years. However, Chevy has lead Ford in comfort design and interior quality IMO.
Both are in trouble because they're starting to lose marketshare to Nissan, Toyota, and Honda trucks...

What is your stance on Ford sucking right now? Or GM for that matter. Besides any issues of not liking their styling.
ok now ford has the best stuff ever and chevy has some but unlike chevy ford has been here longer therefore more trust worthy

A thousand times this. We lost an F250 due to a known EGR issue, but apparently it wasn't cleaned at the recommended intervals either. Take care of your cars and they'll take care of you.

IIRC they are on their way towards doing so, surprising some of the financial experts.
Objectively, Ford and GM are far better today than they were just 5 years ago, though I think Ford has the more solid overall lineup.
The F-Series is as good or better than any full size truck (possible exception : diesels)
The Fusion is as good or better than any midsize sedan ($ for $)
The Focus ('12+) is as good or better than any compact ($ for $)
The Fiesta is as good or better than any subcompact
The Mustang is the best muscle car, flat out period, end of story
When it comes to Lincoln, it's much less competitive against Cadillac. And I don't know enough about the Flex, Edge, Explorer, etc to comment on them.

trucks are a tossup, i personally hate both as far as the way they drive, interior quality, ect (ford seems to be doing better). but fuck, they're trucks. pick the most reliable for your purpose. one might have a slight edge in certain classes, but with the constantly changing engine and drivetrain options it varies from year to year.
cars, ford by a mile as long as you're talking about the stuff riding on the widely-used ford/mazda/volvo (3/5, s40/c30, new/euro focus) small car platform, or it's bigger variants (practically all the bigger new volvos, i think the 6 and fusion, definately others). these cars generally ride and handle great and are pretty damn reliable.
chevy's cars are spotty at best. the fact that cars like the aveo, cobalt, and impala are even on the market is laughable. i would literally rather take any other car in their classes that is legally sold in this country.
as for lincoln and mercury, they're a joke, honestly. redundancies that at least GM has tried to kill off (but hasn't completely. and iirc ford did finally axe mercury, right?). though i haven't been in some of the brand new lincolns, they could be nicer than their ford counterparts. but i doubt it. it's not exactly like the difference between lexus and toyota or nissan and infiniti.
