I wonder how they found this out. Did somebody's auto catch fire?

Or is it like software, and they're releasing a patch for uh.. buggy.. engineering.

I have a Ford, piece of dung, IMO. I have had 6 recalls that I have gotten, plus I know there are others that are not "emergency" and thus not announced. Sometimes the car doesnt start or even goes off if I let go of the accelerator. The new thing is some sort of vent thing inside that breaks its own clips somehow, letting water into the inside of the car. Of course, they dont know that. But they offer to replace the plastic part for $400 (labor and parts?). Ford is really cutting corners. I guess they must be proud of their ultra highly efficient (not proficient, though) mass producing system. Next you know, you buy the car, but have to install your own mirrors to the doors, and put in new wipers (not included in MSRP).

Forget Chevy, Ford has the real Blazer.

At Ford, quality is job #1, putting out the fire is job #2.

Why is it that ALL Ford recalls carry lines like "...which could cause a fire"?

Do you expect them to issue recalls for things that end in "...which could lead to improved fuel ecoomy", or "...which could cause the car to smell like flowers"?

Heh, you know what's fun about working on my VW?

They designed this nice little engine, where everything is easy to access.

Then they add power steering. The power steering pump blocks ALL access to the thermostat/lower radiator hose...which sucks when you have to flush the engine. The power steering lines are directly in your way if you want to remove the oil filter from underneath the car.

Then they add AC. The AC lines (which don't even flex like the PS lines) make it impossible to open the air box to change your filter. They also really get in the way if you need to reach down the front of the engine. I'm pretty sure the AC pump is blocking something too, but luckily I haven't had to work on it yet.

Those two accessories were so obviously added to the original design without thinking about the consequences, that it makes me cry.

Most recalls are things like "....which could cause airbags to fail" "....which could cause power steering to fail" "...which could cause froth to form in oil and lower engine life"....not "car will BURN YOU TO DEATH!!!"

*sigh. When will Ford realize that the $100 per car they save by cutting all these corners is costing them immeasurable amounts in recalls and warranty work...not to mention, one of the most important parts of their business - public image. God, they need to get their heads out of their asses. I swear, you hear "Ford recalls eleventy billion vehicles for risk of death and dismemberment" every other week. It seems like it's gotten 100x worse in the last 5 years, too - with no end in sight. Ford, if you're reading this - WAKE UP AND SMELL THE CARS BURNING, YOU MORONS.

Actually, they are probably saving alot more by squeezing the suppliers to reduce cost on various components. Of course, they will spend all the money they saved and more and taking care of warranties. By the way, has anyone heard "Quality is Job#1" phrase used in any of the Ford's TV ads. I know I haven't in a very long time. :disgust:

I've been wondering when they where going to do this, I had a friend in high school that roasted 2 out of 3 of his f150's (the dealership kept replacing them since it was covered under his warranty)
