That's only 15 more than the current blown Cobra. From a strictly cost basis...which is cheaper to produce...a blown V8, or a NA V10?

But if they're breaking 9-inch rear ends, they must have forgotten how to build them...a properly built 9-inch can take way more abuse than that.

And the blown Cobra you can change pulleys and tweak for more power a tad more easily.

I honestly think the V10 might actually be cheaper to produce though, but I wonder how much tuning it took to produce that much power out of the modular based V10. 405ft/lbs is a LOT of torque at the wheels... esp considering the SVT Cobra is making less than that at the crank. Talk about WALL of torque!

I was shocked to hear that too, the Cobra in my sig only has the 8.8 and it's running around 600HP on ET streets and the 8.8 is doing just fine.

NA V10 I'd say, internals don't need to be *as* beefed up, not to mention that tacking 10 more cyls and coming up with a new crank is cheaper than designing and implementing a production forced induction system. That's just how I see it.

Who says a V-8 is the only engine choice for an affordable car that runs 0-60 mph in under 4.5 seconds? Well, nearly any American powertrain engineer will, though the folks at Mitsubishi and Subaru have had a lot to say about that lately.

article says 9" but most likely the 8.8 and said pinion failure ..1st prob setup wrong ..2nd still together..

well, that's all Ford CAN do with Dodge's SRT lineup - chase them

Unless I misread the article, the HP and torque numbers reported were at the wheels, not at the crank like most numbers are reported. Meaning that the HP and torque at the crank for comparison reasons would be much higher.

I could have misread the article, but that is my take on it.

Whatever the case may be, though, that is still a pretty own car.
