owned!
And even though the Ford did not have fancy ceramic brake rotors, its brakes never faded, and it stopped from 70 mph in the shortest distance (153 feet versus 167 for the GT3 and Stradale).

Rocketing the GT to 60 mph in 3.3 seconds and to 150 in 16.9 (that's an incredible seven seconds quicker than the Porsche and the Ferrari) was a cinch.

z0mb13, the numbers speak for themselves. The GT absolutely DEMOLISHED the competition.

I will believe it after other magazines tests produce the same numbers..

I have to admit that I am a Ford Fan

I have owned 4 cars in my life and 2 were Fords. My current SVT Contour and my 1967 V8 Mustang. The non-Fords were a 1991 Sentra and a 2001 Blazer. The Fords were easily the better cars - except in the snow...

correct me if i'm wrong, but Ferrari isn't exactly known for their quality or durability either right??

also, Fords Slogan is "have you DRIVEN a Ford lately"

"Shortcomings? The GT rides about as stiffly as the Ferrari. The wide A-pillar blocks some of your vision. We'd like more steering feedback. The ratio and the turn-in response are fine, but you don't get any sense of what the tires are up to. The whole car has a kind of robotic feel to it when compared with the lusty Ferrari. There's no supercharger whine, none of the classic V-8 burble, and the cable shifter feels lifeless. Plus, the seats in our test car were hopelessly flat and uncomfortable. Ford says a change is in the works."

Its good to see there still working on the car to (hopefully) tweak every little bit of performance they can out of it. I had thought they would simply build a high performance car and call it quits. Good to see their giving it the attention to detail it deserves.

different ferrari and different Porsche.

if i remember from that thread, several people posted that the Challenge Stradale would take the Ford GT.

well, i guess not.

Thanks for the link 🙂 Ford 2, Ferrari & Porsche 0

what i find weird is how people only care about name. personally, id buy a product regardless of who it was made by, if it beats the competition. for example, if the ford gt destroys the ferrari, id buy the ford. i dont care who its made by. intel or amd, i dont care, whichever one is suits me better, name no matter. "its still a ford" or "its still a honda" "its still a vw" are weak arguments in my opinion. it has no substance other than the name.

sorry, i'll have to disagree. i'd take a Aston Martin over a Porsche even if the Porsche outperformed the Aston Martin because if i'm spending that kind of money, Performance is not my only priority.

that makes sense. but what makes the name better than porsche? if porsche repeatedly performed better than the vanquish etc. wouldnt it then become true that people hold the porsche brand in higher regard than aston martin?

for example, right now porsche beats up ford. but if ford destroyed porsche every step from now on, wouldnt it's name become better and better until people would no longer say "its still a ford", but rather "its still a porsche"? from the way i see it, this is a huge accomplishment for ford, and it really should add a lot of luster to the name "ford". (i dont own a ford)

not really, an aston martin is known for class more than performance. it's a CLASSY performance car whereas the porsche is known as a Spartan Sports car.

the Ferrari DOES have more sex appeal than a ford.

IF i were interested in an all out performer, it would be hard to top the Ford GT.

the FORD GT name DOES carry some panache with it tho, to call it JUST a ford is pure ignorance, it's not like we are talking Ford ESCORT here.

The problem is... for name conscious people... the Ford GT is being sold with the same badge that comes with the Ford Windstar... the GT is a damn impressive car... you can't deny that. But i'll take a 360CS... just because ive always been a fan of Ferrari and their racing history. Ford has their own racing pedigree...especially the GT40 and F1 in the 60s and 70s. But I guess the general public who don't know much about cars will always have see that a minivan carries the same badge as the supercar... which is what looks like plagued the Supra and the NSX. It looks like a one-off... compared to Ferrari and Porsche who make sportscars for a living... which is also probably why the Cayenne was controversial.

I LOVE the way the GT looks... but then again I'm a big fan of old cars 😉

If I had the money, I would pick the Ford GT over any Ferrari or Porsche... well maybe except for the Enzo and Carrera GT 😉

I like the numbers the Ford puts up, but it is REALLY ulgy and the thought as paying that much for a car with the same old numb ford steering and shift linkage doesn't sound too good. i'll take a plain-jane modena, go a little slower, listen to the radio, and turn way more heads.

meh. meh. meh.

so according to your logic a Pontiac Sunbird = Chevrolet Corvette.

Well, their interiors are of about the same quality 😛

I'm sure when GM decides to build a $150k Vette, they'll at least upgrade to a Cadillac interior 😛

OK, I might be wrong, but...

Ford GT = 500HP 5.4L Supercharged V8 = 92HP/L
Ferrari 360CS = 425HP 3.6L Naturally Aspirated V8 = 118HP/L

So Ford needs forced induction to get less HP/L? The Ford also has a 1.8L advantage over the Ferrari. The Ferrari has also been out since like 2000, Ford took one apart and based the GT off of the design of the 360.

I believe there is a Ferrari 400 Modena on the way soon...

The 360CS is maybe around a year old... more or less... but yeah the basic design of it is pretty old so what can you say when the competition picks you apart... 😀 Cool car though... i like the Ferrari better still. 🙂 They shouldve included the Gallardo.
