Anyone here in ATOT own a Ford Focus? I was just wondering because I was recently interested in possibly getting one. Ford has a 0% interest for the life of the loan deal going on... and well, that just sounds too good to pass up! :D

So, if you own a Ford Focus, give some input. Do you like it? Why? (etc)

Thanks in advance!

Someone next to me has one; it's a four door. They are awesome cars, if you get one, get a silver/grey ZX3, they are damn fine cars.

Not to mention, very roomy for the passanger and driver. Adequate back-seat space too. They are fun to drive. They're just good cars all-around :)

Go ahead and get it!

My g/f just bought one. A 2001 Focus ZTS. Its a 4 door sedan model. I basicly picked it out for her. Its black and the ZTS has all the options. Sticker price was 16,8xx but we got it for 16,200. The dealer didnt want to bargain much because of the 0% for 60 mon deal.

I drive it now and then and its a really nice car. Handles good and drives good. Only complaints are the cup holders, seat belt reminder buzzer and lack of power. But its manily for her so power isnt that big of a deal :)

the car has alot of value for the money. If you deside to get one get the Zetec motor. The stock motor only has 110hp and the Zetec has 130hp and still needs more :).

I've always wondered this when I see people driving Ford Focus' (or is it Ford Focae?)...
"Did you just walk into the dealership, slap $10,000 down on the table, and say "Give me a car!"? Seriously, did you even look at the car before you bought it? If you did, didn't you notice how absolutely retarted it looks?"

That's about the extent of my thoughts on the Ford Focus. And I used to think the Tempo was bad ;)

DAAAAAMN, you can buy a 2002 Altima for that. There is a reason why normally only domestic dealers give 0%. Cause their cars are badly overpriced!

There is a few other cars in that price range also. But her mom and dad always bought Ford and they wanted her to have a Ford also :( The Altima for 16,8xx is w/ a 5sp manual. This Focus has a Auto trans which is a $800-$900 option. I myself would rather have a 5sp but for her she likes the auto.

Also remember that the 0% for 60 months is a BIG savings. It saves her $110 a month and $6600 total.

The only way I'd have it, by god!

Yes 0% will save a good bit of money vs something like a 10% loan over 5 years...

I love my Focus. It's fun to drive and sits me comfortably. I've heard from some people that it has reliability problems but I haven't have any problems (knock on wood) with mine and I have over 20K miles on it already.

I wasn't really trying to chase people from buying a Focus, hell thats how I make my living, working on cars. If they dont break, I go broke..

But the question was posed on whether they should buy a Honda or the Focus, and I gave my honest opinion.

I worked for Nissan turning wrenches for 10 years also, and they had a VERY reliable repair history. There are some manufacturers you work for with whom you make more money doing service (general maintenance), and others you make more doing major repairs. My experience with imports showed the service end was the primary source of income.

I think the Focus is a pretty nice car. I liked the high driving position and fairly roomy interior when I test drove it. It gets good reviews, and it is definitely light-years ahead of the Escort it replaced. However, spotty build quality, NVH, and unproven reliability quickly dropped it down my list.
I think there are much better cars in this segment, such as the Sentra, Protege and Civic.

well, from the looks of it, most people like it, except for the domestioc bashers whoud say "get a Nissan Maxima instead!" no matter which american car you were considering.

Actually the Focus replaced the Contour... the ZX2 still remains of the Escort line.

It kind of replaced both, but more the Escort than the Contour. The Contour was a somewhat larger car, it competed more directly against cars like the Nissan Altima and other 'tweener cars like the Pontiac Grand Am, Olds Alero and others. The Escort (and now the Focus) competed against the Nissan Sentra, Honda Civic, etc.

When the original Focus concepts and preproduction models were unveiled at auto shows, the CEO of Ford called it the replacement for the Escort. The ZX2 is just kind of hanging around, I don't know why.

I was looking at focus's for a while, but then I found the townhall over at edmunds. There were HUNDREDS of posts with people have numerous problems with the car. There were just so many oddball things going wrong with the cars that I decided that it wasn't for me. I didn't feel like taking the gamble.

It appears that if you got a good focus, it would be a great car, but if you got a bad one, hold on, 'cuz it's going to be a long ownership.

People with problems go to those forums for help, every forum there will be similar. In reality, the car is reasonably reliable...I prefer German cars myself, preferably ones with 4 rings on the grille.

The Focus is a good car, it's fun to drive if a bit slow, it's roomy and pretty cheap.

ya, that's too bad too. My best friend has a Contour SE (before SVT's were available) and its badass. He loves it.

Well, I already know what that is like. I currently own a '91 Cavalier and damned if the thing isn't needing repairs every 2 months. I'm so sick and tired of it. The current problem is I need to replace the head gasket. Ugh... I want a more reliable (possibly new) car. This sucks.
