FORD Eluminator crate electric motor

Uhm, how is this supposed to work? You need battery packs and tranny that matches this motor. Assuming you get the right tranny, integrating batteries nicely into an existing chasis is pretty impossible.

doesn't need a trans, i'm guessing. but you're right about the battery packs. they gotta go somewhere.
 
I like this and hope we see an expansion in this market, especially if they come up with a nice modular battery setup. Chevy's was interesting since it comes with the battery but only 200hp isn't gonna cut it. The Ford has enough power that there's quite a few cars it'd be an upgrade in horsepower (plus that electric torque will make it feel even more powerful). That's in the region of most of the popular sports cars of 90s for instance. I feel like Chevy's would need at least dual motor versions to catch the interest of the hot rod community.

As for where to put the battery, aren't a lot of older hot rods body on frame? Can't they fit the battery between the frame rails? Seems like a great opportunity for a restomod chassis company to do such a thing. Heck, I bet there's a lot of expensive show level (think Chip Foose) restomods that could keep both the engine and add an electric powertrain just for use in shows (a lot of concept cars have electric powertrains just for moving them for shows) and low speed cruising.

Considering the Bolt recall, perhaps Ford is smart to not be offering a battery + motor package.

I don't think they actually went on sale. It was in one show car, and it was essentially just GM bolt drivetrain wedged into a 1977 blazer, with the whole Bolt Skateboard style battery pack in the bed.
