This is Fords 2nd plant in India. They have been running one in Madras for a while now. All the Ford Figos in the world are made in the Madras plant, which also makes the Fiesta sedan. Majority of the output from the new plant will be for the growing Indian market.

I dont think Indian made Ford cars are brought into USA, yet.

Rabble rabble! Dey took er jerbs!

If the cars are for sale in India, it makes sense to produce them there. Just like many "Japanese" cars are assembled in the US, by US workers:

Toyota Motor Manufacturing Mississippi, Tupelo, Mississippi – Prius Hybrid This facility is currently being built, and production is scheduled to start in 2010/2011. The facility will be named "Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Mississippi, Inc."[4]

Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky, Inc., (TMMK) is located in Georgetown. Engine manufacture - 2GR-FE and 2AR-FE. Vehicle manufacture and assembly - Camry, Hybrid Camry, Avalon and Venza.

Toyota Motor Manufacturing Texas, Inc (TMMTX) is located in San Antonio. Vehicle manufacture and assembly - Tundra & Tacoma.

Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indiana, Inc. (TMMI) is located halfway between Princeton and Fort Branch. Vehicle manufacture and assembly - Sequoia, Sienna & Highlander.

Toyota Motor Manufacturing Alabama, Inc. (TMMAL), is located in Huntsville. Engine manufacture 1GR-FE, 1UR-FE and 3UR-FE. Engines mostly for TMMTX and some TMMI.

Toyota Motor Manufacturing West Virginia, Inc. (TMMWV), is located in Buffalo. Engine manufacture 2GR-FE and 1AR-FE.

I think India is going to become a major hub for small cars in the near future. Nissan already started doing that(although it does not have much of a domestic presence there).
They really need to fix their education system before anything related to cars can happen.

Instead of putting a turbo in the guy's car to make it faster, they put a bunch of garbage in the intake so it has less power :D:D

Says they're going to sell the cars in India. Localizing production sounds fair enough. Cars will probably be "localized" (cheap as shit in quality and "luxuries too)?

This. American made Fords would be to expensive. Now if Ford were to start importing these cars to the U.S. market... I could understand the outrage. Nothing wrong with having a U.S. companies make inroads in a large market.

What the frick is wrong with the whole lot of you?

Cars built in the U.S. are sold in the U.S. Cars built in India are sold in India. Shipping cars oversees in that kind of quantity and price range is not feasible, for the journey here or there.

yay!

well, this kind of thing happens when tons of unemployed people are unwilling to work for $9/hr. They'd rather be unemployed if they can only make less than $11.

...though I imagine in India, it's more like $3 per hour.

So we should stand in line to make $9 hr now? Are you willing to work for $9? I know I'm not. Sorry I actually would like to live in something better than a one bedroom apartment eating ramen noodles every night because that's what $9 hr gets you and this is in Tx.

Ford was the last American car maker I might have bought a car from, guess I won't be owning another American car ever again.

American cars are kind of a misnomer with most parts being built in foreign places. However the profits end up in the US unlike with Japanese made cars for example.

It sounds like Ford just wants to build cars in India to build a presence there. Nothing wrong with that, I can't imagine shipping cars is cheap.

I really feel sad for the US if you think you are an average american.

Yes. People in that video are ignorant.. And so are you.
Those are experts on a car mod show and they still know less than the average hillbilly. I can't wait to see what these people do when they try building cars.

Where have you've been?

Republicans want minimum wage done away with and U.S. wages down to $2 hr.

He won't answer you on would he work for $9 hr which is a $1 more than most large company service sector jobs here in the U.S. already such as Walmart, Home Improvement stores etc.

Duh... Why would Ford build ultra low cost cars for India in the US??? The shipping costs alone would kill their profit margins.
