Forcing Resolution with a Java Application...How?!

I'm trying to make an application which will force the user down to 640X480 (its not an applet) when run - and I can't find anywhere on this; does anyone know how to do it?

You're not going to able to manipulate the OS like that with Java. Unless you want to code an external JNI routine in C++ or something, Java has no API methods to do that.
