I only get that if I'm plugged into analog, for some reason. 🙁

Odd because my direct access settings work with DVI. If I plug in VGA, I still only have one set of options, but they are combined together.

Darn, I just went to all the trouble of cleaning out and installing the 81.85 beta drivers. now I have to do it all over again. Oh well *sigh*

i dont think its worth it. i also just installed the BETA 81.85 but im too lazy to switch to the official.

ill just wait for the next BETA driver.

I've only managed to test FEAR and Aquamark3
Fear has exactly the same perf with 81.84 AQ3 though dropped from 100000 with stock speeds to 91000!!!
I'll have to test some more games too...

Just ran it now again and scores are back to normal!!! WTF?

I also tested with CS : S stress test and Doom. Same perf with 81.84

Maybe there's some caching involved...*shrugs*

I'll give it some runs on the rig in the sig tonight, and maybe I'll do the 4800+ tomorrow.

The 81.85's gave me a 1,300 point increase in my 3Dmark 05 score from the 78.01's. 🙂 Somewhere around 13,500 now. Haven't tested with a single card yet though.

Yeah it's not a big issue, just got me into thoughts... I always like to ran AQ3 though everytime I install a new driver(I find it one of the best gaming benchmarks yet).Gaming performance is what matters and it seems that the WHQL driver does it as well as beta 81.xx ones.. That's great news 😉

Ok, downloaded RivaTuner and overclocked to normal. Here are my benches:

3DMark2001 - 78.01 (29,096) / 81.85 (30,634)
3DMark2003 - 78.01 (18,670) / 81.85 (19,286)
3DMark2005 - 78.01 (8,892) / 81.85 (9,082)
Aquamark 3 - 78.01 (89,245) / 81.85 (?)

Have yet to test AM3 on the new driver.

[It probably only supports Samsung MagicTune and LG forteManager interfaces. Unfortunately the Dells don't have anything similar.]

I have Direct Access in the nVidia control panel for my 2405fpw. Can't say that I have used it much, since I am on DVI and use the driver controls to adjust the image.

[I only get that if I'm plugged into analog, for some reason.]

I still get it on DVI connect, but only the adjustments that aren't disabled in DVI mode.

Do the HD improvements work on the crippled Purevideo on the 6800 series?

Yes, I have a 6800GT with the "crippled PVP". The improvements are only for MPEG2 transport streams though, I think (although WMV-HD performance even at 1080p seems fine these days too actually)

Cool, I have quite a couple of MPEG-2 TS/MPEG-2 video, some of which show slight stuttering with the 81.84 drivers even though CPU utilization is under 50%. Let's see if these new drivers won't fix them. Just wondering, shouldn't such improvements occur on the Purevideo decoder side rather than the Forceware drivers?

It fixed the stuttering/non-smooth playback for me just by installing the new driver. I noticed there was a new version of the Purevideo decoder too, and later installed that, but it played just fine with the older one too.

Hope this fixes the stuttering issue between 6800 series cards and the NF3 chipset.

What issue? I haven't noticed it with my 6800GT and K8N Neo2 Platinum.

Many people are experiencing stuttering in games when you use the 70 series drivers with a 6800,6800Gt, or 6800Ultra, and an NF3 chipset MB.

I am one of those who had to revert back to the 66.93 version I believe. It was a 60 series driver and it cleared up that nasty issue.

I assume it's not the Fastwrites/Sideband addressing crap?
