I have tried installing them 3 times and downloaded them fresh from 3 sources. previous 71.xx work fine, these drivers cause playback to be super bright in media player and winamp or internet explorer media playback. Im using xp sp2, and my rig is in sig. Anyone else having problems?

Hmm search is PIA.

Open desktop props, so you are in your nvidia console, and goto colour correction.

Set the top box to ALL and bottom box do ithe bellow for both standard then enhanced (basically i just made sure all were defaulted if default tab is shaded out just move a slider then hit default).

Default all and you must save with a profile name so it dont change back ever again as it can do randomly.

Do the same for any 2nd monitor or TV connected to it, or you get same issues.

I did this weeks ago when driver was new and since i used a name to save profiles its not returned on my main CRT or TV out.

It seems weird that nvidia isn't fixing this problem. I've experienced the same problem as well, and recently on a new install the settings won't even stick even when I save it to a new profile. It just goes back to the messed up gamma settings, especially when I do something like open up ffdshow window while playing the window. Then I bring up the nvidia console and without even touching anything it goes back to normal. What a crazy bug!
