Forbidden Planet remake.

Do you think it will be good? At least they've got the right dude to rewrite it but I hope he won't stray from the original Tempest scenario. Still not sure why it needs to be remade though, except to make money. And I worry it may look like Lost In Space as far as Robbie is concerned.

The original movie scared the crap out of me as a kid, particularly when the monster from the ID is melting the solid Krell door. I still find it scary (dennil hugs his DVD). I have a feeling the remake may be more graphic but actually less scary because it will leave less to the imagination.

I loved B5 (up 'til the end of Season 4), but some movies just shouldn't be remade. The original was great. Leave it alone.

It's not a remake. It's not a reimagining. It's not exactly a prequel. You'll have to see it. It's something that no one has thought of when it comes to this storyline.

The original was good. A remake could be good w/ better effects. I hope they don't update the mood though. The original has a real 50s mood.

I :heart: the original as well and wished hollywood would quit tinkering with the plot/characters/feel of truly great movies. They keep trying to modernize them and end up making very bad remakes that seem to miss the whole point of the original movies altogether.

I could see this revisited using the original stylish 50s sci-fi scenario, for instance using a similar retro look. I have a feeling that is where he might be going with this, but who knows. If he did that, it would be a pretty original version of it.

The Invisible Boy Maybe Straczynski can remake this, too. 😛

Some movie trivia sleuths consider this film to be sort of a "sequel" to Forbidden Planet" (also a Nick Nayfack production). Look for a scene early in the film where the disassembled "Robby" is found in a present-day scientist's store room, with notes indicating the scientist had developed a way of going into the future, where he obtained the robot. Also in this room is a picture that the young boy comments on, showing "Robby" emerging from the Forbidden Planet saucer ship at the "Chicago Spaceport" in the year 2242, inferring that Commander Adams, Altaira, and the rest of the crew made it back to Earth safely after the Krell furnaces caused the explosion of Altair IV at the end of that film.
