this is not new news, and they have not set a time frame other than this year

Thanks, updated the OP - completely misread that.

It's good to know a 3G iPhone is coming though...EDGE is pretty terrible on my 1st gen iPhone

Sweet. Was thinking of getting an iphone when my current contract is up this year.

I am also going to grab one when they are 3g enabled. I think my current cingular contract will be up around then so maybe i can get one at a reduced price.

Doubtful. The only way you will get one at a reduced price is to buy a non 3G when the 3G hits.

BTW you don't have Cingular anymore.
