Smoked on and off since I was in my late teens. Started smoking daily at around 30 years old and stopped at 38 when I got a job that does random tests. Haven't smoked since. It's been almost a year and it sucks! I miss my weed!

Started at 15 and stopped at 20. Don't really feel a need to do it at all. I will occasionally do it like once every couple months.

Started when I was around 21, stopped this year shortly after my 24th bithday- about two months ago I stopped. It just cascaded into something I couldn't control, blowing through an ounce every 3/4 days. I got tired of getting up and craving it 24/7, it became the central focal point of everything I did. I'm embarassed to admit that - I didn't want to go anywhere without being high. It didn't help that I started abusing loritabs in January - that and weed were all I gave a fuck about for the longest time.

I hit rock bottom this September - I was tired of using them, tired of the constant fog and loss of self control. I had become a fucking vegetable, had a dead end job, was failing school, and generally unhappy;, doing it on purpose because it was easier to get high/fucked up than deal with any problems I had - I started seeing a psychologist, and getting things that worried me off my chest.

Glad to hear!

As for me, I can't stop anything I never started. My wife and child is enough of a high for me.

I lived in rural Texas at the time, and smoked from about 14 or 15 to 21. I just got sick of feeling stupid, and of coarse the cotton mouth.

First time at 15, didn't smoke again till 18, smoked a lot through 22, 23 now and have smoked twice since the beginning of August. Got pretty into it for a while, but don't really talk to or see the people from that life anymore. I'm pretty much a social smoker now, and I try to keep those occasions to once every couple months.

19.. told myself i'd only do it once or twice just to experiment.
Ended up doing it everytime I met up with my friend, then I met my neighbor who was a dealer who gave me lots of kush for free. I ended up getting hooked and when I had about 6 months with no job or school, became a pothead, smoked almost daily.
School started now, and I get a gram on the weekend once every few weeks. I'm 22 now.

first smoked @ age 18 or so, used to do it socially through my 20s (parties, hanging out with friends). in my mid-to-late 20s I started using more often and quite habitually.

now more often than not it is alone since most of my close friends have moved away. even before weed i was sort of a quiet / introverted type. i also have an addictive personality... (all or nothing - inability to moderate). weed and I are too perfect for each other, but not necessarily in a good way. now i'm 33 and quite set in my ways.

I suppose I enjoy it too much to ever stop fully. I'm not really a drinker. I enjoy cannabis more - both the buzz and pretty much everything about it compared to alcohol and other drugs.

it has made me more of a hermit than i should be... quite demotivated and antisocial for the most part. i find it nearly impossible to hang out at home by myself without blazing a bowl or joint. drives my wife bonkers. i also get bored too easily now.

i know i'm not in the worst bracket of stoners, ie. i don't go through a lot - maybe an 1/8th every week or so... and i don't spend too much money on it either. however, i wouldn't want to see the total amount i've spent on pot since i started. i have a great job, nice house and an amazing wife. i have a Bachelor's degree which i obtained despite some pretty heavy usage at the time.

my advice to the young stoners is try to moderate and if you can't, you might be better off quitting. there are some of us who try to reach the old "once a month" or "only at parties" stage and repeatedly find themselves going back to chronic life. people will laugh at you if you say you're addicted to weed, but there is help out there and a lot of people who also believe their dependence has taken over their lives. if you're looking to connect with other stoners and want to discuss your usage, check out this forum:

a couple years ago, that place helped me abstain for several months.

a lot of people will argue that people can be "functional" despite chronic pot use. while a lot of times this is true, it's a waste to live your life simply being "functional". everyone could and should be much more. so while i still use, i would definitely not advise it if you plan on living a productive life, and not simply "functioning".

I started when I was 15, I started drinking shortly before that. I stopped when I was 18. I caught a PWID (possession with intent to deliver) and had to make some serious choices.

I started smoking when I was 17.

So 10 years now.. Off and on, probably 9 years taking away the periods where I've quit.

It is definitely my drug of choice.

I first smoked when i was about 13, didnt get high for the first time until i was probably 15. Started smoking maybe once or twice a week when i was 19. Now im 22 and smoke a few times a week, i dont have any regrets from it, and it is a drug that i see absolutely no harm with. However i do feel it may have been the reason i think i would like to try and trip one day. either that, or just watching my roomates trip and wondering how it feels. I do NOT consider weed a gateway drug, the gateway drug is cigarettes.

You should move to MI! We just made medical use legal.
