I have an X-Wing (It's in about 5 or 6 big chunks right now) that's around that size. Too big for a Lego man in the cockpit, too.

lawl @ lego men in the ISD

Edit: Thisis the Star Destroyer I want. The one with the lego men is just a little cheesy even for me :p

When I was a kid I had a 3-D puzzle of the falcon, but I never finished it because all the pieces looked almost exactly the same, it was f'n impossible.

cool, I have most of the original series of the lego Starwars in my collection and some of the Trilogy editions..including the Millennium Falcon...I really need to get some more imperial stuff, I only have all of the Tie fighter Variants ATM.

maybe I'm just weird, but I would rather have this to build it than to have a cool model of the falcon

the best part about that destroyer is the scale blockade runner it comes with...but don't get me wrong that thing is freaking sweet! my buddy finally put his together. he hasn't opened the box for the death star just yet though...

Injection molding isn't that cheap. I bet it's a couple of cents per piece to mold, plus all of the overhead, plus profit.

Are those made entirely out of bricks? I checked out some large Lego toys a few years ago and they've changed drastically. The center of the large builds is just a big, plastic frame that you attach the bricks onto. There aren't many bricks to the large items.

That isn't the main reason. The real reason is the same as why paint and canvas is cheap, but the Mona Lisa is expensive.

And how about just designing the thing to be complete and challenging, yet still efficient to produce?

Well then it wouldn't be an epic build, so what would be the point? Either way, my point was on a piece-basis, the pricing isn't bad.
