For you poor restaurant tippers....

what a dick... if your not going to tip in dollar amounts, whats the point.

IMO, it is an insult to leave change.

If I'm paying cash, I'll usually leave whatever I was going to tip plus any coins I receive back.

Once when I was in a restaurent, we had to wait 1/2 hour for the waitress and another hour for the order to arrive. The waitress didnt even bother coming around to ask how things were going. We each left one cent of change. Its not 0% but its very insulting and IMO she deserved it :|

I completely agree. I always tip at least 15% unless the service was awful, in which case I talk to a manager rather than vent by leaving a tiny tip. No reason future customers should have to put up with an idiot server. Besides, tipping well = preferential service at most places if you're a "regular". Always nice to get a table or beer promptly even when the place is slammed.

that deserved a manager call, but i'm a hypocrite b/c i wouldn't have called or said anything.

To me, leaving a small tip of a few cents is more "meaningful" than leaving no tip at all. If I have completely terrible service then leaving a tip of dime or a quarter is to me, the best of voicing my dissatisfaction.

As for this guy, he's just an idiot. In Iowa, carrying a handgun, licensed or not, into a bar is a MAJOR no-no. Even if it isn't drawn/used.

It's an insult to EXPECT me to give you money. You give me good service, I'll decide whether to give you my hard earned money or not - something that is extra, that's not on my bill. If you need more money from a job, get another job.

If I give you ANYTHING, you should be happy and not complain. Money is money. If I give you a dollar bill or four quarters, it all spends the same, bub. 🙂

And just why is that? What's the purpose of a conceiled handgun license if you can't use it?

There's a big difference between a bar tip and a restaurant tip. If the drink's $4.50, the barkeep gets a five. $0.50 tip. Never had problems or slow service - but then again, when you're buying for everyone at the table because they paid you in advance, the tips add up fast. Bartenders love you when you tip them well.

Insult or not, pulling a handgun was stupid. Congratulations, dumbass - you just went from "midemeanour" to "felony" in 25 cents. Enjoy the prison poundings.

Cobalt, three posts in a row usually is a cue for the "Edit" button. 🙂

Because alcohol + guns is BAAAAAD mmmmmmmkay. Way to much "heat of the moment" incidents - like this occur.

I'm 110% for concealed carry as well..but as stated above, guns + alcohol = bad..unless you aren't drinking, don't even think of bringing a gun into a bar..IMO, anyways.

hehe, I think she got the message. While walking out, we could see the look of horror on her face when she say the amount we has left. Needless to say, we didnt go anywhere near that restaurant again.

Ok, Mr Pink. 😉

The worst tip Ive heard happened to a friend of mine. A bunch of college kids came in, were messy, loud, and obnoxious. When they left, she found thier "tip." 'Thank You' spelled out in pennys.

If I said the sky was blue, you would say it was black just for the sake of argument. STFU.

Well, I don't always go into bars to drink, either. And a colt .45 under my arm and one beer down the hatch isn't a problem. When I decide that I'm going to get drunk off my ass or drink more than a few, I would agree that a sidearm is a bad idea.

Actually, no, I wouldn't (no, still not trying to argue). I just LOATHE people who expect tips. I also loathe those who give poor service if they DON'T get a tip. This is a very sore subject with me.

How you drink is irrelevant. It simply is not a very cool thing having weapons in a bar. I know that Iowa is not alone in this law. Check your weapons at the door.

I wasn't there so I can't say you did the wrong thing, but sometimes it's not the fault of the waitress if you get poor service. Some managers are real pricks and won't schedule enough waitresses.
I try to leave nice tips. Several waitresses have remembered me the second time I go to their restaurant again.
