That made me laugh for some reason. 😛

Thanks. I try. It's funny when people ask for help but make no attempt to diagnose or figure out what happened for themselves. "Black smoke came out from under my hood! I think something is terribly wrong!!!!!!"

heh. trust me. if you love the car, it's never "done for".

my husband lost the engine in his car some 6-8 years back.. and bought a "new" one.. from sweden by boat to california and then by truck to south carolina.. it took ::forever:: and I will never understand why it went to california first..

if you love it, it's never dead.. it's just expensive.

(many's the time I've wished it was dead..)

haha sorry for the ignorance guys, but i am such a noob.

i took a look under the hood...it looks like there are four connections to the engine....i'm assuming for each cylinder. well, the one on the far left popped off, spark plug and all...how could this have happened? i'm thinking i probably can't just stick the sparkplug back in.

You can try screwing the plug back in and see what happens. Check it over first to make sure it's not damaged or worn out, and the gap is right.

do i need a special tool to check the gap?
Yeah, any auto parts store should have them. It's just a little round deal about the size of a silver dollar. Shouldn't cost more than a dollar or two.

Sounds like the bunny dropped the pancake, just install new pancake and you will be good to go.

But for real, what is the year make model. Where is the smoke coming from, and I swear don't say under the hood, etc....

welll, i screwed the plug back in and the engine fired up and soudned fine...but i was afraid to drive it around. i guess what i'm wondering is what could have caused the plug to pop out of the cylinder...

thanks again for the help!

What were you doing at the time? Normal driving, highway, dragracing 😛 ... ? What make/model/year etc? Mileage? Babied or beaten?

Give us a statistics file.

Whoever replaced the plug last time probably didn't tighten it enough... happened to my old truck - I took it to a Precision Tune for a tune-up, and they "forgot" to tighten all 4 plugs on the right side of the engine!

oops.

i can see how someone could "forget" that, it's not like it's important or anything.
