I'm pretty sure I got this pretty nasty virus on my PC and I got a wiping program that offers the Gutmann method, the Department of Defense 5220.22-M method, and two United States Navy wiping algorithms.

Anyone know which one of these is the best? I was unsure between the Department of Defense method and the Gutmann one. I know the Gutmann method takes a lot of time, but if its the best I don't care I want this thing gone!

So opinions?

Depending on the virus, I would think that AthlonXP's answer is just fine. There are boot sector viruses, but you didn't say anything about that. Most viruses won't trouble you again if you just drop/recreate the partition and reformat the drive.
