Do you need a constant connection? My router wont be in the same room as the TV, and I have no phone line.

You can have it force the call once you hook it up. Mine "calls" daily though, and you really want a constant connection, especially if you want to take advantage of online scheduling.

Go Wireless if you can - but keep in mind you need a wired connection to perform the guided setup without a phone line. Send me a PM if you need more info on how to do that. Once you've done that, you can use a wireless USB2.0 adapter to make the connection.

They're practically giving wirelss NIC and router away for free after MIR. Ok, I'm exaggerating, but they're real cheap.

Ok.. I suck at wireless networking. Havn't touched one in over a year.

I have one of These.

Are pretty much all usb adapters compatible with Tivo?

And could I then just buy any 802.11b router and it would work with the adaptor I already have?

Wireless adapters and TiVo here. The adapter you have seems to work with most TiVo models.

edited for clarity.
